We have just gotten the confirmation that my husband got a job that he had applied for in Michigan. We now live in Missouri so it will be about 10 hours away. We are both very excited, but I am a little worried about the whole moving process and how it will affect my pain levels. Does any one have any tips to make it any easier?

I'm sorry that I don't have any tips or anything to help you. I just wanted you to know that my friend moved to Michigan from SE Kansas and she loves it there. Being born and raised here, she said she would NEVER move back to KS, she loves it so much.

Good luck with you move and I hope you love it as much as she does.

I think that to make the move easier wear comfortable clothes, comfortable pillow, and medicine to help with sleep if you are driving. I always get medicines from my doctor so I can sleep the trip away. This way I am not uncomfortable. Just when the trip is over and I wake up.

Good Luck with the move.

I just recently moved. What I did to make things easier, I wrote on each box what room to put it in with a big marker. then smaller, I made a general list of what was in each box. Most of the boxes my dh packed and I did the marking of the boxes. The last things I would pack are bathroom things. They are always the first things you need when you get to your new home.

Get as much help as you can from friends and family. That way you are not over doing yourself.

If I can think of anymore, I will post again.

Have a packing party. When my girlfriend moved we had a slumber party and brought sleeping bags. You can sleep on your bed with your fibro. Anyway we ordered pizza. We hwlped her box up, paint the rooms in her house, etc..It was really fun plus we felt really close to her when she moved. It was bitter sweet but we have fond memories of that night. Just beware. We put condoms in her kitchen box(they were new) and did other funny things. Mydragonfly took all the good ideas. Don't feel bad if you can't do much. You're friends, relatives, men off the street, whoever you can get to help will understand. Hire someone for the nonbreakable things to pack. Think of the positive things about this move.

something I like to do for the people that will be moving into my old place, I leave fast food menu for who delivers.

you can look up on the computer what resturants are close to your new home. Cooking the first few days is always hard. So do that little bit of research now and put a list in your purce. That will take a little bit of stress off that way.

I don't know how much time you will have for the packing but try to do a little bit each day and mark the boxes like was stated before (it is a HUGE help on moving day). Also, I don't know if you have tried this, but breakables can be packed in newspapers...they help provide a cushion. (I am married to a newspaper guy so I get lots of tips from him.)

Oh - and on moving day, you take care of yourself...you are the director and everyone else has to listen to you. You should NOT do any lifting on the day you move cuz there will be plenty of unpacking to do when everyone is gone. If possible have some family of friends, or even new co-workers come to help with the unpacking so you won't have to do it all.

One more thing...talk to your doc now about any recommendations they may have about your new doc. Maybe they know someone in your area or how to get you connected with the right people.

Best wishes and take care! Let us know how it goes.

make sure you get all your meds filled so that you are not in a rush to find someone to fill them. That way you can have time to get in to see a dr.
