Has anyone tried the Gazelle? From what I can read in various reviews, it stretches your muscles, gives a decent cardio workout and has absolutely no impact on your joints. Anyone tried it?

After years of use ,I finally had to give up my treadmill, the pain was unbearable and a minor injury would sideline me for weeks. I sold it, thinking I would replace it with an elliptical. Unfortunately, the price for a good one was way out of my budget. I bought the Gazelle Edge thinking if it didn't work for me , at least I wouldn't have a fortune invested. OMG!!! I cannot believe it. It is so easy. If I have a bad day and my hips are tight, 3-5 minutes is all I need to feel better. I generally do 15-20 minutes in the morning and again in the evening. I can go as gentle or intense as my tolerance allows and I always feel better for it. Other benefits have been, I'm sleeping better, little to no pain meds most days AND I just did my 1st 5K walk in 12 years!!!

If I'm not mistaken, it has a gliding, cross-country ski motion. Great. I have an elliptical machine and the movement is similar........and NO impact. I have pretty bad spinal stenosis and some screwed up discs and have had back surgery. People tell me to take gentle walks........ No good. Even when walking slowly, there is heel impact and it sends daggers to my legs and spine. My other favorite is water aerobics for low (or non) impact exercise.

TClare. Welcome to the best fms support group you will ever find. Geri

WOW, you all make me feel so welcome ,thanks! It's good days and bad days. I give 110% everyday but 110% today doesn't always look the same to others. Yes, Garinaz, it's like that but I think with a bit more range of motion. When I'm in a strong stride I am feeling an amazing extension in my hips I couldn't get any other way. I did the water aerobics too and loved it but was unable to continue due to cost. Besides who can do a class at 10:30 am? We are all different. For most of us movement is paramount.I would say the Gazelle is worth a shot. For the price you don't feel so bad on a day when you just can't do it. Tomorrow is another day and 2 minutes of gentle movement is better than nothing!

One of the reasons I stopped going to water aerobic classes is because the ones I liked were too early in the morning. I was going regularly when 10:30 a.m. did not seem so early for me. Times change. Hip stretches are great and difficult to get. keep it up. Geri
