I have to write a children's book for a class I'm in. After a wonderful flare with full brain fog, it came to me. I want to write a book to my 6 year old DD to explain how fibro feels. In 1-2 sentences (think child's picture book), what does fibro feel like to you?

Here's one I thought of:

scribble lines in all different colors as the illustration (no idea on the words yet for that one)

then on one: I know a book is a book and a table is a table. I love that you can read my mind to remind me I want you to get the book off the table.

TIA

I saw a billboard with paper coming off everywhere and it's black and white - I thought that would be the perfect illustration of how my nerves feel.

I Love the idea. I don't know how detailed you want to get.

Just a suggestion A child is trying to figgure out why his Mommy is so sad and goes to animals and asks them .

Bird: When I can't fly I... could you help me. he gets her a worm.

Rabbit:when I can't hop I... he get it a carrot

fish: when I can't swim... he takes the fish to another part of the pond

the bottom line is they tell the child he coud help his mom too. Keep me poseted.

I like the idea of showing why it is important to help out when mom or dad are not feeling well..

that is a great idea. I like that. I really only want to write the book with DD in mind KWIM? I think showing her how much it means to me when she helps me would be a great idea.

How about: With fibro it feels like a big tummyache.

or: Fibro is a big owie when you fall and hurt your knee

or: when you play with your bigger cousin and she sits on you

Reading my grands books their having to read now, as are here tonight, since I'm in a w/c they like to help push me when I can't use my arms much or like when she is helping you to pick up her toys cause mommy can't bend over much as mommy hurts when she has to pick up her toys...I know their sentences in a book are no longer than 3 to 6 words per sentence.....

It's a great idea you want to make for daughter!!! My hat's off to you!!!!

Blessings,

Debi

P.S. Keep us informed about it!!!1

Don't think I'm that great, it's an assignment for my class to write a book, I figured I might as well write one that will be useful.

What about a picture (somehow) of when your legs or arms fall asleep, and they are like pins and needles. They can all relate to that feeling. I'm not sure if they will understand the fibro fog thing.

ok, I decided to go with an ocean theme - I love the ocean. This is totally a rough draft and I'll get photos and then include a small fact about each animal.

Brain feels like a school of Tuna preparing for an attack, all my thoughts in a swarm

I feel like a predator when I’m trying to get a hold of one thought, there are too many thoughts.

I sometimes feel like I have the brain of a (sea creature with a little brain), I forget things that I know I should know.

My heart is like a happy dolphin, leaping and soaring.

My skin feels like I’ve put on a blanket of sea urchin quills.

Sometimes one part of my body will feel like it’s been bitten by a shark.

My chest feels like it’s being squeezed by a giant octopus.

Sometimes I want to stay in the same place all day like ????

Just like coral, when I do something, it takes me a while to recover.

That is so cute...if you are stuck you could change the stay in one place part to coral since they just sit and awhile to recover to star fish, like when they break off their thingys and it grows back so it recovers. Just a thought. Wink
