Hello to other fibromites.

The last 2 days have been horrible. My son lives on the other side of the continent in Canada. I called ahead & followed all the rules from UPS to send him a package. They "guaranteed" it would be there for Christmas Eve. One mistake in my postal code by the very first of their staff that I talked to, (there were MANY) & his package will arrive maybe Dec.29th. I stayed & waited at work for them for 9 hrs., which has made me very ill & exhausted. My fury also makes me ill. Today, they were constantly calling, apologizing; their words ring hollow.

Also today I called to wish my granddaughter happy birthday. My daughter Sally informs me she won't be staying with me when they come down here for 'Christmas' on the 28th; she'd rather stay with her cousin who drinks & parties. She & her family will be here for a meal that will take me days to prepare, rip open presents that took me a multitude of precious hrs. of activity & $$$, and then rush out after 2 hrs., as there are more important people to see. Sally & I had a big fight, as I actually expressed my feelings of hurt & anger, something she feels only she can do towards me.

2 weeks ago I found out I'm gluten intolerant & probably have Celiac disease. I've overspent on food but am not hungry. It hurts in every way to eat. The muscles hurt. My head hurts. My heart hurts.

Being alone at this time is horrible. And all the 'feel-good' movies on tv are total hollywood crap. I'm feeling sad & angry. Merry is the last way I feel. & I don't care to try to be any different.

I know there are others who feel just as much pain as I . I'll be glad when all this is over. It stinks.

Karen

Hon,

I agree. This sounds like a lousy Christmas for you...family wise.

Do you have a friend you could spend Christmas with?

Sometimes family can be sooo insensitive. In fact, many times.

All your hard work. Sigh.

I hope you find a friend and have a good Christmas with them.

Gentle Hugs

Karen, I'm very sorry. I wish you could some spend Christmas with me and my hubby. We're not celebrating much, money is exceedingly tight our kids live far away, too. Still, it's very peaceful, relaxed and happy here and it sounds like you could use some of that.

Our big splurge is we're getting Papa John's pizza tomorrow Wink

It's very sad that the holidays aren't happy for everyone. My mother abused us children tremendously and holidays meant broken bones, bloody fights, insults, slammed doors, you name it. There was nothing about peace, love or joy in them.

So when I got out of the house (at 15) I started making my holidays the way I wanted them to be, the way they should be.

For you, hon, I will pray that the time passes quickly and that in the future it will be different.

Karen,

I know how you feel except it's not, well yea some of it is my one son, but the one that hurts me the most is what my mum done. Had it all set up for her to come spend today with us, stay overnite and then all day with us tomorrow. And she called said she had a cold, and didn't feel well enough to come....

I understand it if she was really sick ok cool, but she did this once before, when I was going to have surgery, she told me she couldn't come help me the day before surgery as had a cold, so the day was to have surg. it went way overtime and they got worried so decided better come up and check on me and my hubby stopped them from coming in to see me, any how a whole lot more and this is about you,

Children can be so insensitive and they just don't think about what their doing or saying and it seems when they get married it can get worse, it's just too bad that you worked so hard to make it a great holiday for them and they are being so rude to you......

I agree with bits is there any friends you could invite over and have them spend the time with you, and when dau gets ready to leave tell her see ya later and just enjoy the time with your friends.....

Please keep your spirits up, and am sorry that children are being that way to you.....

Hugs

Debi

I'm so sorry you're having such a lousy holiday. I do agree about the holiday movies and the peace, love & understanding sets us up for high expectations that can never match the reality of family fights, disagreements and misunderstandings. I'm sorry UPS messed up on your son's gift. I'm sorry your daughter is just stopping in for a couple of hours.

Next year maybe let her do all the cleaning and cooking and go to her house for the holiday...then maybe she won't be so quick to blow you off again.

I'm sorry for all of you who have unhappy Christmas memories. Tina I'm amazed at how well adjusted you are after having such a Dickensian childhood. I'm relating a bit...I learned early on that those tall rectangular boxes under the tree meant trouble later on...who brings alcohol when they know their sister-in-law is a drunk???

May today turn out like my evening last night....been dreading it since Thanksgiving and it turned out to be the best Xmas eve since my Dad died. To cap it off, I'm going to my daughter's for a great beef stew this afternoon!

Karen,

Hon, I am so saddened to read of what you are going thru ~~~

Fortunately, I have fond memories of childhood holidays and they tend to see me thru the present holidays. My husbands' family was rather poor but even he has decent memories . (Neither of us had drinkers in the family or family fights, PTL)

We always tried to make the holidays (for our daughters as well as some neices/nephews happy and memorable.

I will pray that things turn around for you and your family and they will spend more time with you than planned at this posting.

Merry Christmas, Friend ~~~ Marilyn

I'm sorry to hear about all of this. I've found that holidays are no more immune to crappiness than any other day. My holidays were hit or miss as a child, my husband's bad. But I make my own holidays now. I set the rules. Don't like em don't come. Pftt. In fact hubby and FIL almost got into a fight this morning right before we got up.
