MDJunction to me

Hazeldee"MDJunction means that I no longer have to feel like I am the only person in
the world with pericarditis. It means that I can talk to others who know
how stressful and how painful having pericarditis can be. It means that I
connect with others to discuss treatments that have or haven't worked for us, so that we have a leg to stand on. I think that having my friends at
MDJunction has allowed me to better mentally and emotionally process my
diagnosis and what it means to me. I feel so lucky to have this community
available to me. I use MDJunction as a way to use my experience to help
others. Reaching out to help others is the only solace I have found since
being diagnosed with pericarditis.

gnossis, I copied this to a new discussion due to the fact that I am so tired of listening to that dang video every time I open this thread.Sick I will now delete the other thread, which will cause the whole thing to delete.

*** The numbness of the emotions isn't unusual with some antidepressents. I had the same thing going on when I took Effexor XR in the beginning. It was what I needed at the time, as was taking it for PTSD and deep depression. I went off it after a few months due to that efffect, and the fact that I decided I was ready to "feel" again". Just would never do it again without asking my dr. Went off cold turkey and man, I was a nutso for awhile!

So, if you decide you need to try a different formula, Please Don't Do it on Your Own!!

When I was on Cymbalta my libido went down the toilet. Poor George. I went off of it because I didn't like what happened to me when I missed a day or two. It's not cheap and sometimes I would have a week go by before I could buy my meds. I would get these electrical shocks in my brain that were not cool. So if you do decide to go off of it, taper off!

Yup, the libido is part of that non-feeling thing too. No fun at all, especially for our hubs/mates. /Sad Tongue

I'm an Advocate

Taking meds like Cymbalta definitely stops all feelings including libido and unfortunately is does effect our hubbys or partner. I switched from Effexor xr to Pristiq and still have the same problems, so it's not much different. I know this has nothing to do with Pristiq, but intercourse is extremely painful for me. Unfortunately for my hubby, I am sure he wishes it happened more often. I really do need some sort of antidepressent though or I probably wouldn't be here now.

Just my 2 cents worth. Pristiq does still allow me to cry, which is good for some things.

Goint to go nighty nite soon

love to all.............

I failed to say that after stopping Effexor, I was put on Citalopram, which I believe is generic Celexa. It hasn't had any side effects and I've taken it for several years now. I can still feel emotions yet they don't overwhelm me now, which makes it so much easier to look at things, deal with them and let them go. Smile

I went to a psychiatrist and he put me on Zoloft, Serequel XR and Abilify. WAY too much! I liked the Abilify, but the Serequel made me so tired, on top of my Fibro tiredness. I'm just taking my Zoloft right now, but am thinking I would like to try something else....one day when I get insurance again. Wink
