glad i'm not the only one that Ambien isn't working for i'm in no pain excercise daily and still wide awake. My family has a history of insominia and i've been off and on Ambien for years. I'm embarrassed to tell my doctor that it doesn't work for me, scared that he will say stay off it. I feel like i'm losing my mind when I can't sleep at night, and I hate to sleep all day till 1 or 2 in the afternoon! When i take too much i'm listless all day with a hangover feeling and lately a metallic taste in my mouth...

Hi pegbaby Welcome! I take Ambien occasionally but I take it with Melatonin with the blessing of my dr. Neither works for long with me but together I get a good sound 3-5 hours.. The best part is, if I wake up during the night, I am able to go back to sleep if I just stay in bed and try not to worry about it. Eventually I was able to get by with taking it less. IT was like my brain got trained or got in the habit of sleeping properly.

I would ask my dr. about the metallic taste, a well as whether Melatonin is ok for you and any meds you take.

i too find ambien not working. it worked for about two weeks but is totally useless to me now. I have been taking zopoclone (Lunesta) its a pretty good sleeping med and i have been taking it for five years. doesnt work in the classic sleeping pill way for me now, but it seems to relax me and make my head spin gently, so when i go to bed i get off to sleep quite quickly.
