MDJunction to me

fluffyluggage"I found MDJunction at a time when I was struggling with so much. I
was so sick. I found a home, a place where people understood me, when
even my family doubted me. In MDJ, I found a place of refuge, love,
and support. I come here daily, to find my balance, to cope, and to
find that same support I've found from day 1. MDJ is my new family.
The friends I've made here will remain with me for a lifetime.

Hi hon

If you're having bad pain I'd suggest going to get it checked out straight away. It may be fibro, it may not be, but you need a doctor to tell you that and to reassure you if it is a fibro flare. Keep us posted with how you're doing?

I didn't go to the hospital. I have been trying to manage the pain with my pain meds because if i miss a day of work i will lose my job. I almost went last night because i was opening a jar of peanut butter and broke into tears. i dont know what to do i cant lose my job, but this is really painful!

If it's on your right side it could be appendix related and so you really need to get it checked. Are you having fever, any other signs of illness, etc?

Nothing like that. Just extremely sharp pain, shortness of breath. I went to the after hours clinic this evening after work. They are running a chest x ray to make sure nothing is broken. She said it doesnt sound like its related to the fibro. She said its possible it could be pleurisy, but the amt of pain is not appropriate. I asked about the chostochondritis (sp?) and she said its a good possibility. She prescribed an anti-inflammatory and said if that doesn't work she wants to try a regimen of prednisone. So we will see I suppose. Sad On a slightly different note- when I was at the doctor they took my BP as usual, but it was 102/64. Anybody know why it would be that low?

Olivia I'm so relieved you went to get this checked, thank you for letting us know. I hope it's just chondritis, which is very painful but nothing worse. My BP is often low and my heart rate often all over the place. My rheumatologist has recently referred me to a cardio guy with instructions to talk to him about autonomic problems, and he says bp/heart rate fluctuations often go with Fibro, CFS and ME. Not saying that caused your low BP but just information I'm aware of.

Hugs, I hope the anti inflammatory helps you be more comfortable.

I'm glad you got it checked out too! Costochondritis does seem to go kind of hand in hand with fibro (so it's still possible it IS related to the fibro if you want to look at it that way) and I think many of us suffer from it. I do, but not all the time. It seems to be worse when I've over-used the muscles there in the chest, like with yoga or pushups. Hopefully the medication works and you don't have to resort to the steroids.

how long does your chondritis usually last? I have been feeling this for about 3 weeks now and it is only getting worse. I got adjusted today at the chiropractor which usually feels amazing but today with my chest i started crying and was unable to get up by myself this hurts sooo bad literally one of the worst pains of my life thats why it makes it tough to accept that it could just be part of the fibro
