First of all...Welcome to the group. Your father is lucky to have you for support. He needs to be honest with his doctors. If he's not honest some of the meds could be making things worse.

I have always questioned what came first, the tremor or the anxiety. The two seem to go hand in hand, like what came first, the chicken or the egg. Being tired, or overall not feeling well also seems to add to the tremors.

Opening up to the doctor and chipping away at some of the issues may help his trem...

Hi nicurn. It is generally recognised that people who work at night on a long-term basis have problems due to the reversal of the circadian rhythm. For that reason, hospital workers and long-distance airline staff often use melatonin to offset some of the difficulties.
For long-term night workers, it can be difficult to switch back to a daytime waking schedule so I hope you manage. Again, melatonin at bedtime can help.Post edited by: TopGeek, at: 06/09/2013 04:39 AM...

Thank-You very much @ LighterLife, I find your advice and strength very encouraging. I will share the list of notable people with ET to my daughter, as well as your wonderful view regarding coping with ET how you explained it to your children. Thank-You also for welcoming us to the group.

I'm thirty three and was just diagnosed with Effective Tremor last week. I've never been sick in any way and was the epitome of health. In the past six months, I started shaking. I thought maybe it was nerves or a result of playing American football or racquetball the day before. It got to the point where I couldn't even eat a bowl of soup because I would shake all the soup out of the spoon before it got to my mouth, and one of my favorite past times of playing video games became untenable becau...

Well, a few weeks have passed and my tremors have reduced dramatically. This week I went through another big attack of stress and my tremors increased again. They are definitely linked to stress. I do feel very optimistic that they will reduce to a manageable level once the stress has completely gone. I post this respectfully acknowledging the huge struggles some are going through and in respect to the new people who are un diagnosed and arrive here looking for an answer and information in sheer...

Yes, that has happened to me. I'm just experimenting with different meds because it seems clear that the neuros don't have much idea how to treat it. If you test negative for Parkinson's they just call it ET and prescribe drugs that make you feel like a zombie. The last suggestion was clonazepam and that is where I decided to go my own way. Fortunately, my family doc is happy to prescribe what I ask for and selegiline is the latest. So far it seems to be helping. In particular, it has taken away...

Thanks for the tips.
I am 25 years old and was diagnosed with ET about 3 years ago. I mainly have it in my hands and legs and sometimes my head, I have had to get my boyfriend to hand feed me a couple of times cause I couldn't hold my knife and fork. I tend to try and stay away from caffeine, I had 9 no doz tablets to keep myself awake and afterwards I couldn't even walk and when I layed on the bed in the hotel I couldn't even lift my head let alone get up again...
