epileptic

My name is sonia, I am 39 and I also have epilepsy. I take Lamictal and dilantin. I still have seizures sometimes, I will usually go 3 weeks without any and then I will have clusters of them, around 5-8 within a couple of days. I just wanted to welcome you to the site.

I started having seizures 24 years ago (I was 15), but someone has yet to find out why. My neurologist has tried me on almost every seizure medicine that there is, there was one that stopped my seizures when I was 26(it was great I was able to drive & get a job) I was seizure free for 7 wonderful years, & then when I was 33 I got married and my neurologist wanted me to be on birth control so I would'nt have an unplanned pregnancy & I started having seizures again. You had asked why I was on 2 medicines my neurologist started me on combinations of medicines to try to get me seizure free.

i was on lamical for 2 weeks and it really didnt work for me.. it made me break out in a very bad rash and blurry vision and bad abdominal pain and other stuff i've been on Keppra now for 2 months (i've been recently diagnosed) and its been workin good for me.. so what does drinking coffee have to do with the seizures.. could it trigger them?? i never had a seizure in my life till almost about three months ago and like a few weeks before that i was drinking loooooooooots off coffee i would drink like 2 or 3 mugs of black strong coffee.. and sonia i wanted to ask u is there a problem if u get pregnant if ur Epileptic?? i love children and ever since i was young i planned to have a big family one day and i hope this wont effect it?? what did the doctor tell you??
