MDJunction to me

cinderella"MDJunction to me is a life saver... when i first was diagnosed with Scheuermann's Disease i wrote a message to a page i found on google, hoping that they could help me.... you'd never know it but that weird feeling (you know that one where it feels like someone actually cares) came over me when i opened my email next day to find that someone on the other side of the world (at the American Medical Library)had read my message while i was sleeping, and there low and behold was the address to MDJunction.... well it is everything to me, i live it breathe it and love it!!!!! I have found many people who are struggling with similar issues banding together to help each other. It is the best place in the world, and i couldn't think of another place to go to meet so many lovely people....

thanks MDJunction

Dizzy Hi everyone!

I hope you are all doing well.

I had seizure for 11 years and had tried most of the seizure medicines that are for the kind of seizures that I have, but none of them stopped my seizures completely and then at the age of 26 my neurologist put me in a drug study that lasted for 4 years where they tried me on an experimental drug. YEA it worked I was finally seizure free (it was great I was finally able to drive & get a job), after 4 years at the end of the drug study the FDA deceided not to approve it, my neurologist helped me out, since I was 1 of the few that this medicine worked for I got most of the left over medicine which enabled me to stay seizure free longer. After 7 years of being seizure free I finally found my Mr. Right and got married, about a month before our wedding I was put on birth control pills (as I had said in an earlier post my neurologist did not want me to have an unplanned pregnancy while on a seizure medicine). Shortly after I started having seizures again. I cannot drive anymore but I do still have my job. (My husband says that I am like a prisoner). Dizzy

I'm an Advocate

Birth control pills can make epilepsy drug less effective. Unsure

SO people with epilepsy can't take the pill.

Hi Belinda & Krystle,

Thanks for writing. Yea I know now I found out the hard way. My gynecologist put me on a birth control pill that was both estrogen and progesterone, after finding out the birth control caused me to start having seizures again she told me that it is the estrogen in the pill that caused the seizures she said I needed to be on a pill that was progesterone only. (I think that is right, I can't remember if it was the estrogen or the progesterone in the pill that caused the seizures). Sonia Wassat
