What is? Tax fraud? It's not impossible. The IRS has very long tentacles. If you have little or no documented income and a car, a house, clothes and food, how do you explain that? I come from a family of attorneys and judges and they have always said that the one branch of the government that you absolutely do not want to get involved with is the IRS because they are like a dog with a bone. They will NOT let go if they suspect something.

I am currently working at an accounting firm I agree with Meg the IRS will find proof. I have seen enough client audits to tell you little slips by them once they get going.

I am sorry you are going through all of this. I send you some positive energy to help you power through. Smile

"When you were standing in the wake of devastation
When you were waiting on the edge of the unknown
With the cataclysm raining down
Your insides crying, "Save me now"
You were there, impossibly alone.

Do you feel cold and lost in desperation?
You build up hope, but failures all you've known.
Remember all the sadness and frustration
And let it go.
Let it go."

I know that my grandaddy who served in the army had back taxes and the man couldn't even retire until all of it was paid.

The IRS has very long arms.

Not long enough to reach the UK where the tax office is not the same! lol.

He does have a declared income that would be enough to cover his outgoings, but the other stuff is tricky to prove because it does wax and wane and he can say he's got no jobs and you can't really prove otherwise unless someone follows him, then waits til his tax return and proves he hasn't declared it iykwim.

At this point in time, anyway, I am waiting to see if he starts paying me more regularly before I do anything that would lead to him never paying anything (he'd just work for the minimum he needs so that legally he wouldn't have to give me anything... you know what they are like Sad )

I looked back on the thread and I guess you are both in similar situations! Our comments about the IRS would only apply to Juss though, unfortunately. I don't know a thing about the government tax agencies in the UK.
