HELP!!..Anybody in this situation. I know alot of Bipolar meds make you gain weight, but I guess I've tried all the other ones and this is all I have left. Im now taking Zyprexa and Im on day 2. I haven't noticed any change in appetite so far, and Im praying it stays that way. If anyone has any suggestions or advice please give it. I feel lost and scared!Sad

If your prescriber knows that weight gain with meds is causing you anxiety, you can try the ones that don't have that side effect. Most important though, is dealing with the depression. If that's under control, you can do much better with all of life's issues. If therapy has been bad experience in the past, check out DBT which is Dialectical Behavior Therapy. It's helpful and much of it is handled like classroom instruction & group.

I also have an eating disorder and am bipolar. I have told my psychiatrist very clearly that I refuse to take any medication that will make me gain weight due to my eating disorder. The most successful that I have come across so far is Lamictal and topomax. I will not take seroquil, lithium ,geodon ,welbutrin , depakote... Not only for the obvious but for other reasons as well.
