Patty and All, I'm in a lot of pain. I already posted in the Osteoporosis group, due to my doctor started me on Boniva, which I took first thing yesterday morning. I did fine yesterday other than a little bit of indigestion. Today, I hurt everywhere, and have the chills on top of it, flu like symptoms, which is one of the warnings with taking the medication. The pain is so bad, it has me in tears. I hate OA. Reason I had to start with the medication is due to the bone density scan showed weakness where the OA is in my neck. Not a lot of weakness but some. At first the doctor wanted me to start on Evast, but I denied it, due to high risk of blood clots, stroke death, list goes on, and it wouldn't of been a good idea for me at all, due to my family history. Even my family backed me up on that one, which I told the doctor. I was really hoping Beniva would've been for me, but it's not. It's only once a month to take it. I'll try to be around more if I'm feeling better. I might end up seeing my doctor if this pain and the chills continue. I love you all. GBHugs, Donna

When I saw this I immediately said "what happened?" Once again it was nothing that we have done, but some drug. Did Dr. say if you could take 1/2 if needed? sometimes the shock of a new substance can be overwhelming on the system. I'm sorry for all the pain you have. gentle warm compress hugs.

Call Dr right away.

Thank you, Patty and Charlotte. I did call and talked to the nurse, she told the doctor what's going on. I'm running a 100.5 fever as well, and I read the pamplet before I took the darn stuff, an it can cause flu like symptoms. She called back and said it's a virus. I've had viruses, but never hurt like I'm hurting right now. I did ask if I could take my Melexicam for my OA. I did get permission to do that. Hope it gets the pain to back off. Right now I'm rating it 10+. I'm getting offline for the night.

Patty, send Roy and PM and let him know what happened, so he can get you set up again. GBHugs, Donna

Donna, I'm so sorry you aren't feeling well. I also have osteoporosis and took fosomax for several weeks. That was also a once a week pill. I got sicker each time I took it and neither the Dr. nor the pharmacist believed me. They'd both said they had never heard of anyone getting sick from it. That was strange since my friend's sister had taken it and was affected the same way. Same Dr., same pharmacy so I don't know why they doubted me because I KNOW they had at least one other complaint and can't believe that was isolated.

I took my pill on Saturdays because we don't often work that day. The last time I took it my husband sat up with me all night and we nearly called poison control. It made me violently ill and I'll take my chances with a fracture vs. those meds. Now there are warnings out about fosomax saying several things, and among them are that they have caused thinning of a thigh bone and fractures are very possible there.

My Dr's solution was for me to get the yearly shot. If I can't stand that poison in my system in small doses, what makes him think that one huge yearly (expensive) dose would make me feel any better?

Be very cautious with those meds and please let us all know how it's working out for you.

Thank you, Patty and Angela. I know it has to be the Boniva. I have never hurt as bad as I as hurting yesterday. Even on the pamplet it said the medication can cause flu like symptoms. Next time I talk to the nurse, I will let her know. I did everything that I was supposed to do when I took that medication, and she acted like I didn't. Well, I did sit up for an hour after I took the medication, I drank an 16 oz. bottle of water, due to I wanted to make sure I got plenty of water in me. I ran a fever all night, it's down now, but I'm still in pain. I don't think it's virus at all. Guess I'll find out if my husband gets sick or not, due to we all know how viruses work.

So sorry the fosamax made you so sick, Angela. I'm about ready to do the same with you. I don't want that poison in my body, especailly if it's going to make me as sick as it did yesterday. GBHugs, Donna

Today my right RSD hand and arm are hurting bad. My foot just aches, but I didn't go swimming because I heard the water is too hot to really refresh you. I wish I was brave enough to go out in the sun. But my dog wont even go out, except to go to the grass and be right back in...LOL...smart dog!!! Wonder if he could have OA like us, he is almost 9 yo the vet said..when he looked back in the records. Wow , it seems he was just a pup a few years back..Time flies!!!

Patty, Sorry you're in so much pain too. Darn arthritis! Awww, maybe your dog didn't want to stay out long due to how hot it was. Ginger is like that, heat is so hard on animals as well. I'm still having issues with my stomach, so thinking it's the darn Boniva. Hopefully the cooler weather will help all of us. GBHugs, Donna

I slipped my hand into like a stocking you where for circulation on your legs..but this was for the hand and it really helped the swelling to go down in my hand. Yikes the things we do , just to try to get comfortable with OA or RSD...Like I have. I just want to get outdoors today. It should be around 87 today, much better than 102 though. I actually felt cold yesterday...cold feet and hands...so common with my ailments LOL....but I try to keep my heart warmed up...LOL
