MDJunction to me

carmen33"When I first came to MDJ, I was in a very dark place, and feeling quite alone, I don't know how I found this site, but I have been very grateful ever since, all of you have offered insight to the illness of Bipolar and the other things going on with me, being here has allowed me to find friends, and to feel safe in discussing things that I would never have shared before.

I believe it has also offered me the chance to reach out and help others. A simple Thank you, is all that I have to offer, to this site and to the wonderful people here.

Hi all - just saw on Cooper Anderson yesterday, a family went to a farm and had no electricity, cellphones, ipods, etc... they were only spending 30 min a day family time so they tried that. It opened their eyes and they learned more about each other. This sounds like my family. My kids are always texting or on facebook. I KNOW we need regular dinner time together.. but haven't made good on that yet...

Any thoughts? Do you make time for your family and how?

mask, I watched the show too. No such thing as family at the table here, unless we have family gatherings. In my first marriage, we always sat at the kitchen table and had our meals, but no computer and such then. Today, well, being it's mainly just me and my hubby, and with my food issues, I eat well before he's home from work. I miss sitting at the table during dinner time, but just can't do it anymore. It's a great thing though. GBHugs, Donna

We do have dinner at a set time with everyone around the table. I would first say look at your schedule and give time to rest and cook. Pick a time and stick to it, I know families that eat at 8pm. So much depends on the cook, not saying the woman always has to. Cook something up the day before. I do much better when meat is de-thawed. I can always get side dishes.

My boys have tried to come to eat with no shirt, they get turned away. No electronics either, or its taken away for a day. No One Messes with dinner.(used to be a commercial) If it's a priority for Mom and Dad they will respect it. My older son has said that he would like to eat as a family when he has a family , what a nice compliment. Our best conversations happen at the dinner table.

We have been doing this since they were babes. Hope it works out for you.

I cooked last night, we all ate it but my youngest who was taking a nap... he's picky anyways. Getting there slowly - pizza would always work for everyone,, but I want to be more domestic, like clap Smile
