Hi! I am brand new here. I have Bipolar 1 and have been in and out of recovery from drug addiction for 20 years. I was wondering, is there a live group chat on this site and if so, how do I get into it?

Thanks.

Hi, Bid, and welcome to the group, I don't believe at this time we have a live chat, but I think that one is in the works, as there are generally people around here at any given time of day, it's almost as good, how are you doing on your recovery?

Welcome Bidrug!

For starters, you can find some lively BP folks here today:

http://www.mdjunction.com/forums/bipolar-support-forums/ general-support/48200-anybody-awake-feb-20-no-topic

Then, each day you will find a new thread, same title/different date, here:

http://www.mdjunction.com/forums/bipolar-support-forums/ general-support

This thread tends to have a side effect of intense laughter, so, if you've recently had major surgery, be careful that you don't rip a stitch, bust a clamp, or slip a staple!

Okay?

Jim

Heya Bidrug!

If you ask anyone who has put together a successful recovery--anyone who has "sober time", you will realize that almost all of us had relapes--one of more--until we finally made it.

Most of us will say that relapse sometimes is a part of our recovery, and that it kicks our butts and steals our lives over and over until we just want to kick it back, more than anything! ...until we've lost everything and we just want it to STOP!!!

You must see that you have a choice everyday not to use or to drink. The crap starts AFTER the first hit or the first drink--the craving.

The secret--make a choice, just for today--JUST FOR TODAY--and do what it takes to honor that choice. Make a meeting, say a prayer, talk to another addict in recovery, get out of your isolation, make a call, get a sponsor.

Spend your time with healthy people--people who have learned to live without booze and drugs.

And remember millions of people like you and me have gone through what you're going through. With help we made it through to a better life. I believe, with help, you can do it too!

Okay?

Send a PM anytime.

With greatest respect,

Jim
