Hey to all,

This topic, receiving loving help from those who love you and only being irritated and hurt by their ignorance has depressed and perplexed me since a close friend of mine dually diagnosed OD'ed or commited suicide died 1-1-06.

Responsible shepherd in our religion made life difficult (out of ignorance and not understanding) for him and me (at least it fely difficult. Who knows being firm with mike could have saved his life and now he is dead. I have finally benefited from some tough disciplin my self and am finally really getting some sobriety time and clear thinking). Instead of feeling proud of my achievements, I felt guilty. I'm a Jehovah's Witness and am satisfied with my religious beliefs and my spirituality, but can not accept Michael's death.

I feel much less able to relate to these "normal" people and even resent them. I feel judged because of ignorance and find it hard to discuss my problems to get help from those responsible in guiding me.

Even my Mom, though she loves me and knows my disease is impossible to educate and bothers me. I get to where I don't want to be around people. I feel like we are mistreated so many times by those who want to help.

I don't know how to accept it. I'm viewed as morally weak by those in my congregation because I went for help. It is difficult.

Anyone ever felt like that. Can you accept it?

Love you all, Jeff Davis

Stigmatism- how do we deal with it?

What do you do when you are misjudged, viewed as morally wrong, as if you aren't trying etc.

Any one else out there?

Jeff Davis
