MDJunction to me

neshama48"Having Crohn's Disease for over 26 years, in the first few years, it lonely and isolating.
Though now my disease is in a near perfect remission, my friends and family are sympathetic to me, but I can not talk to them about this disease. When I stumbled across MD Junction, and met others who had the same disease I was not alone in battling the disease. MD Junction is like a second family, without the judgement or guilt of having Crohn's Disease, but they do give you love and support.

Music is such an important part of our lives, you hear an old song and you can go back in time to when you first heard it. Some songs have special meaning to us. Other songs remind us of the hard times of life, I would like to hear from the members some of the songs that are important to them. I recently discovered youtube, ok, I am alittle slow when it comes to new technology, I didn't grow up with it like my daughter's genreation and so on did.

When I was dating my husband we listened to Pink Floyd alot, Our song was Wish You Were Here, my husband died but I do believe when I hear that song now its because he is trying to tell me something, to let me know he is watching over me and his daughter.

When I our lives were spinning our of control because of drugs, I would sing to him the song Total Eclipse of the Heart, Bonnie Tyler, he had these beautiful bright sparkling blue eyes and the song says turn around bright eyes, I would tell him that because our life was like a powder keg giving off sparks, the words in that song, totally explain what I was feeling at the time.

Does anyone have songs that are important to them. I would like to hear about. Now that I have discovered youtube I am finding many lost forgotten songs. Oh how I love new technology. Tongue Tongue Cheerful

Music has had such a huge impact most my life. The song soulshine by the allman brothers is just such a uplififting song it really makes I know everything will turn out alright.and then there are those songs that take me back to darker times like the song by candlebox called ,left me far behind, reminding me of my mother who overdosed on heroin and I was powerless to help her.
Lithium 900Mg
Risperidone .1 Mg
Remeron 15 Mg

This is kind of an old thread, but I just joined this group. I'm not really a religious person at all, but the song that always helps me is "You Are More" by Tenth Avenue North. The lyrics are so powerful for me, as is the music video. It just makes me realize that there are much bigger things out there than my addictions, and that theres much more to me than all the mistakes I've made in my life.

I have been on vicodan and other pain meds, I know how hard it is when you are controlled by these drugs. Do you have a chronic pain problem or just taking them to feel better. chance are that if you feel things are out of control, they are. We are here to help you get through it. I was on high doses of pain meds and my pain was out of control, so I know what it is like. your body just screams for the drug, but there is life after addiction, its just a long and hard wall. We are here to help you anyway we can. I know have my pain under control and the drug doesn't control me anymore. People think just because you are on a opiate that you are a drug addict, that's not so, many people suffer from chronic pain and take opiates as prescribed and are able to function. They are not controlled by the drug. So let us know which problem is yours, so we can be there to support you and help you.

I'm not really sure. The meds are from different surgeries, I've had a lot. So I've had bottles and bottles of these in my medicine closet. I don't have chronic pain. I just like the way they make me feel. It started that I was just taking them at night to put me to sleep. But then I would wake up and feel like shit, so I started taking them throughout the day. I can barely get out of bed before I take them in the morning.

Sounds like you need to go to therapy, the drugs are giving you something that is missing in your life. You need to deal w/ that problem. For me it was a low self esteem and no confidence in myself, I thought I was a nobody. So I did drugs to feel better about myself and give me the courage to live. I have gone to alot of NA meetings and have had alot of therapy. Facing my demons was the hardest thing I ever did, its always easier to just take a pill. have you gone to coucelling or to any meetings, are there mental health clinics near you. You have to find out why you need the drugs, what do they do to you that you can't do for yourself. really look hard at yourself, if you really want to stop taking the pain meds you need to work on the issues that are making you take them. We are here to help and support you. So don't be afraid, maybe just go to a NA meeting and listen, you don't have to talk, See how it goes, It can be your 1st step toward recovery. Again remember we are here to help and support you, no one will ever judge you. We just want to help you anyway we can.

Its something along those lines for me. I just got out of an abusive relationship, but I've had self esteem problems before that. I tried counseling last semester, for my depression, but the college I go to only gives you 12 sessions a year. The psychologist I was seeing said he thought I should be on meds and going to therapy regularly, however my parents think its bullshit and I have no way to pay for it myself. So I've kind of been stuck. I've been trying to deal with my depressioini, and then all of this happened with my ex, and this is already a tough time of the year for me. Things just kept spinning out of control. I can control how I feel by taking drugs though. I've never been to an NA meetion. I have no clue if there are any where I live, but even if there are, I dont have a car to get anywhere.
