I have had 3 days now with no vic's or perc's and I was wondering when do you feel normal? I know it takes time but if i had some kind of idea i think it might be easier to keep at it.

Hi Lizzy900, welcome to the group.

It can take up to 2 weeks or so before you start to feel "normal" again. How long had you been taking pills? Are you going to counseling of any kind? It might be helpful to go and sort out your feelings and stuff.

Suboxone is kind of like methadone.....to help you get off of drugs..... but is safer to use than methodone....from what I know about it!!!

You have taken the first big step to recovery.

Best wishes to you! Your friend,Chris

Thanks for the info mommyofsix. I have been taking pills for over a year and i got so tired of it ruining my life. I am almost to day 4 and the biggest thing is that my legs hurt so bad. Any advice on how to cope with that. - Liz

Hi Lizzy, Is it muscle cramps in your legs? You might want to try a bath or shower.......You can try alternating hot and cold packs every 20 minutes or so. If it is really bad you may want to go to the doctor.....You may have been masking something serious with the pain medications.

Why were you taking the pills in the first place? Was it for pain or something? I took Oxycontin and oxycodone on and off for years for pain. I became physically dependant to them. I went to get off and had such horrible withdrawls that I had to go on a tapering program. I became so ill and it was the most horrible feeling I ever felt. It took me a month to get completely off of them ......but I felt so much better.

How many were you taking? What dosage are they? You may need medical help with your withdrawls. There are programs like the methadone or suboxone that can help you taper off of narcotics.

Keep in touch and let me know how you're doing!!!

I started taking them after I had my little girl because of back pain, I just kept taking them. I would take 1000 mil vics 2 at a time. It was bad. I finally want to stop bad enough that i know no matter how crappy I feel I am not going back there. I hated everyday needing them. I was so moody and short tempered. I dont want to lose my family. It came down to (in my mind) picking them or the drugs and i picked them. _ Liz

The 1000mgs is how much tylenol is in the vicodin. There is usually 5 or 7.5 mgs of hydrocodone in the pill along with tylenol.

I'm glad you have the strength to get off of them on your own. I wish you the best of luck with it. I just know that withdrawls can cause serious medical issues and medical treatment may be necessary. I just like to tell poeple of the possibility so they know and will get medical help if it gets really bad!

Good luck to you! keep in touch and let us know how your doing! Chris
