Again, Mike!! Proud of you. You know, I think that "light bulb" went off in your head after that meeting, and you fully accept that there is NOTHING you can do for her. Seems you are seeing her in a whole new light, that of a pathetic drug user/addict, and that is no longer attracting you. Am I right? Or am I making this sound way way too easy a fix?

I know for me, personally, most of my struggles that I overcame happened virtually overnight!

Sallie - your are very much right. Like I said, I am still hurt, I still have love for her and I still miss her. However, this issue was as much about me as it was about her. Once you accept that you did not fail these people, they failed themself it is easier and relief comes to you quickly. Also, the whole thing I had in my head about being upset that some other man was making her get well - NONSENSE. She is not well. If she is, it is temporary. Very temporary.

Of course, the court that I represented her in called me. She did not submit her drug test or pay her monthly fine which was part of the settlement I reached for her. So, she now has a warrant for her arrest, which will never be lifted again. That right there tells you how "well" she is doing.

And yes, Pathetic is the perfect word. I look at how upset I was that I - a successful and loving man - could not help this girl. Yet, she could not give less of a shit about herself. That is what it is - PATHETIC!
