Hi

My name is Stormie and I am 21 years old. I have a really bad problem and I really need some advice or someone to talk to. My mom is my bestfriend and I am losing her. She is addicted to perscription drugs. She goes to work and then comes home and pops pills. I hate going home and I feel bad for my dad because he has to deal with it. She won't get help. I find her problem effecting me a lot every night I cry myself to sleep, wondering if this is going to be the night that I get a phone call, saying she has over dosed. I can't deal with it, I just want to cry all the time. My friends dont know what is going on, I am scared to tell them, its just easier to pretend that I am happy and nothing is going on, but to tell you the truth, they know, that something is up. So if anyone could help me, I would be forever grateful.

I am the last one to be giving advice, but your are too young to be dealing with this so maybe you should get some counseling for yourself or maybe just sit and have a heart felt conversation with you mom and let her know how you feel and how it's affecting you and maybe just maybe she might decide to get help for her addiction. I am a mother myself and i would hate to know that i'm causing my kids any pain at all.Moms usually try to keep their kids free of pain.

I completely understand how you feel. I am dealing with my brother's heroin addiction. Every time there is a call from my parents it makes my heart drop thinking that my brother has finally OD. I have only been a member on this support group a few days and already it helps. To be able to write in a diary about how mad or sad I am helps. I have also started to tell my closest of friends. People that I consider my family, If they are truly your friends that will sit listen and hold your hand as you cry. Keeping this inside will only hurt you. Trust me I have kept my brother's addiction a secret for years. Tell your mom how you feel. Make her understand that she is hurting you and your father with her addiction.
