Drug Addiction Support Group

hi i need some advise about my brother he has been an addict for many years

and im the only one he has left,since my father past away he is falling apart even more my mother will have nothing to do with any of us so i feel its all down to me,i find it hard to beleave anything he says, i so him yesterday and he has a very swollen leg and some kind of lump sticking out of his throat he signed himself out of hospital and i no he has cancer as far as i no its bone cancer i dont wont to lose my brother but its putting a strain on my marriage,i cant sleep anymore thinking about him, any advice would be so good. many thanks

Have you tried taking to him, honestly about your concerns. Is he in denial?

Maybe you can suggest that you take him to a NA meeting, I know my daughter and sister took me at 1st because I was too scared to go alone.

He may be also scared and feels all alone, maybe he is ready to get help, just reach out to him. If he denies he has a problem well that's a whole new problem.

So 1st try and talk to him, don't accuse him, just tell him that you love him and are concerned about him and his health. Let us know what happens...we are here for you and your brother

hi anamore yeah he is in complete denial he was supposed to be getting in to the haven rehab but he never went i can only go by what he tells me i seen him lastnight and his leg is red i tryed to get him to hospital.ive also tryed to have many brother to brother chats with him,i feel ive ran out of options now.alot people says i should just give up because theres nothing i can do.

It is sad but sometimes there is nothing you can do, especially if he is in denial, just sit by and wait till he hits bottom and hope he doesn't kill himself first.

I know how hard that is and how helpless it makes you feel. But the drug is in control now, not your brother and until he admits that face there is nothing you can do, he will just keep denying it. But I bet you somewhere under all those drugs your real brother is crying for help, but he is so afraid to face life w/o the drugs. The drug gets a strong hold of you and doesn't let go until something tramatic happens and he hits bottom, I am sorry I can't give you much hope, I wish there was more we can do but if they are in denial, nothing is going to change, only time and sometimes they just stay that way until they die, Its sad, you can try going to al-anon, its to give you support to deal with this problems. they support you and help you deal with your brother, you can always post here if you need to vent or cry, we are here for you ...I hope he will admit and face the truth before the drugs destroy him........
