have you ever seen a certain item in the grocery store, it looked so good, but it contained something that you never tried ?

we can often be tempted by flashy pictures or colorful thoughts. problem is we are often afraid of stepping outside of the wall we created.

we are held back by the chains we have been handed due to our circumstances.

we become used to that way of life. we find ways to deal with our life.. even if its a destructive one. we cannot find peace or joy in actually trying something new .. because we fear being away from the only way we are used to.

deciding to change takes courage and strength. it takes commitment. it takes more than just a vision. it takes making that vision a reality.

everyday the addict looks outside his prison. he can only dream of the joy it must be to become and stay clean.

many addicts simply dont know how to deal with life without drugs. we believe it will be painful and impossible. the defying and the abandoning of our good friend .. drugs ... seems impossible. the drugs have given so much to us.

sound familiar ? no matter what the change may be .. no matter what you perceive it will be like without drugs .. you will never know until you step up to the plate.

if you cant see it happening .. it never will.

to many times in my life i let things pass me by. i did so because i couldnt see it happening. i wanst willing to take the steps it took.

life is about taking steps. every step you take WILL determine your next one.

Oh odie your words are so so true, I felt like that, I couldn't imagine life w/o drugs and alcohol. I saw a news report today called Summer of Love 1967, when the hippies and drugs came, I was a teen, it was such a carefree time, free of society rules, flying high all day...you didn't want to believe that addiction could happen to you, it became of way of life. but somewhere slowly in those carefree days of sex, drugs and rock and roll, the addiction slowly started, unknown to me, it slowly took over my life and life became a nightmare, gone was the carefree days, no matter how much drugs I did I couldn't find that feeling I had when I 1st started, now it became an obession for that feeling, but it was gone forever. In its place drugs controlled my life, I lived through a nightmare, was in hell and back. It was hard, very hard to admit that there was life w/o drugs, I didn't know any other way.. it was always there...recovery was very hard, but I kept fighting, my family pushing me on..and although I do not abuse drugs or alcohol I am learning how to live a new life, a life that has happiness and hope.

So what happened to the summer of love 1967.....

ummmmm, it turned into 2012.

ppl had a different mindset back then. things were pretty carefree. political uprising. the war. everyone on the band wagon to end the war ... and to personally stay out of it. back then ppl fought to find peace, freedom. kick back and dont harsh my buzz.

well, in todays world, its a selfish world. its not care free. its about hard times and those who refuse to get off their ass. its about what the country owes US. its about money. its a me me me world. it what can we get with out having to do anything for it. its not about freedom, its not about kicking back. its about .. damn when the hell does 5 oclock get here.

we the ppl are bitching about the way things are in todays world. well if we the ppl would stop and think for just a minute ... WHO THE HELL CAUSED IT TO BE LIKE THIS ?

oh yea, we the ppl. we want more money, but want to work less. we want more money to pay the higher prices in the stores. why are the prices sooooo HIGH ? because we the ppl want more money. its a revolving door.

cost of living goes up. we want more money to compensate for that. so, what we want creates higher prices and we continuously bitch about prices .. WHEN WE ARE THE ONES WHO DROVE THEM UP.

ppl said go and kick some iraq ass. we were mad cause nothing was done.

well. we got what we bitched about for so long. we did kick some ass ... and then what happened. the same thing that EVERYONE KNEW WOULD HAPPEN.

so now we bitch about that.

we the ppl WILL become our OWN APOCALYPSE.

so true odie!! Things seemed so much easier back then, in the 60s and 70s. My dad came to US with my mom after the war, he didn't know any english, he got a job in a factory and w/in 6 years he had 2 little children and bought his 1st house. I was 6 months old then. I remember the day he paid off his mortgage, he was so excited, I was still little and didn't really understand it then but I remember that day.

Now we have Ukrainians coming to US and they think the streets are paved in gold. They expect us to give them things because they suffered so long under communism. I am sorry to say but they are lazy and selish, well to be fair there are those that come here and work hard and enjoy everything they are able to do and buy. That people in Ukraine still can't do.

Society seems to think they deserve it and the government has to give it to us, whatever happened to working for what you want, My daughter learned that early on, we were just making it on my income and she learned that she had to work for all the extras.

Society has changed so much, it seems our freedoms are slowly being taken away, like all the smoking bans they have, I used to smoke in my college classes. Then all the laws they want to put on the size of the soda you buy at fast food stores, they are slowly taking away our freedom because they feel its for our safety. Who are THEY why do we follow them so blindly and don't question what They have to say.

In my little country town the town board passed all these zoning laws that restricts the property owner his personal rights, everything requires a permit, which cost money. Everywhere you turn people are asking you for money, you go on the internet and are flooded w/ ads, you don't know who to trust, if its a scam or what, my bf is from an older generation so he is slightly slow on the computer, he reads all those ads that pop up and then gets pissed that he wasted his time, I tell him just get rid of it but he thinks it has something to do w/ his internet service so he reads everything, he drives me crazy

My daughter just got a new iphone and she talks to it, doesn't even have to dial the number just says call mom,she carries that thing w/ her all day long and is texting or doing something, she is glued to it. I remember the party lines and the big black phones with the dials. technology has exploded in my lifetime, its amazing how different things are from the 1960s. Its sad to see the direction society is going in, what can we do to change it????

1st step is NOT to read 50 shades of Grey, its a disquesting book, if this is were society is going then we are in deep shit.!! What is happening that a book so gross is catching everyones attention, I don't see it? don't understand................
