MDJunction to me

jenniferdiva"MDJunction has been just an amazing support for me. The people who are on mdj are so nice! Unlike the many other support sites that I have been on. I have made several friends on mdj who are so supportive and so educated about mental illness. Of course non of us are doctors, but we certainly offer each other hugs, opinions, and advice. I have learned a great deal from my friends on mdjunction. I am also encouraging other people who suffer from mental illness to come on to MDJ. It can be a life line." (jenniferdiva)

I was put on high dose of pain meds when I 1st got my physical chronic pain problem in 2001. The dr kept increasing the dosage as my tolerance built up. I was up to 100 mcg, the highest dose. I hated being a slave to these fentanyl patches, After many years of searching I found a dr to help me, he weaned me off the fenatyl patches slowly, every 2 month a lower dose and switched me to oxy 80mg. Now every 1/2 yr of so, we have been lowering my dose of oxy. I am down to 40mg and now trying to go down to 20mg.

I have learned through this experience that although I live in chronic pain, I don't need such a high dose, alot of the sickness I was feeling was from withdrawal from the drug, if I was 1/2 hr late in taking it I wouls start detoxing. At times I didn't know if it was my illness and my chronic pain or withdrawal symptoms that was making me sick. My tolerance for pain meds were so high,

Now I am detoxing to 20mg and feel terrible. I hope to have the 40mg out of my system by Christmas but now it seems like I have to stop living because I am so sick.

I am usually the one out there supporting the members and encouraging them to get clean. But doing it now, reminds me again how hard it is. Life stops because of all the sick feelings of detoxing.

I need the support and encouragement of my friends here, I am having a hard time doing less pain meds. My pain is higher but alot has to do w/ detoxing.

I know physically I am addicted to these pain meds and mentally too to some point, but I hate how they make me feel. I get so nervous and anxious and I am afraid to leave the house even to go to the store a mile away w/o my meds. What if I was in an accident and didn't have my meds w/ me. I HATE the control they have over me and my actions.

My bf is coming to his place up here, he has a bungalow about a mile from me and comes here on weekends. He is trying to be supported but he doesn't understand addiction, when I told him I was detoxing he thought I meant that I took too many and was all drugged up. I am trying to taper down slowly but each day is so hard, because you know that if you take 1 more pill you will feel better. I don't want to live like that.

I don't know how supportive I can be to the members that visit this group until I get the 40mg out of my system

But remember I pray for each and everyone that writes in and is suffering because of addiction, or someone they love is addicted.

We are all in this together. Knowing I have friends here supporting me helps so much. It keeps me going to reach my goal and not have drugs control my life....always...Ana

Thanks Steve, all encouragements help, they keep me going on, I am sleeping alot so don't have to feel the pain of detox, but when I get up I feel so sick, can't wait till its out of my system. Its amazing to me because I am still on the same med, oxy, only a lower dose 20mg, but your body is craving the higher dose 40mg, I would think that if its the same med, you would not detox, its confusing to me.

Trish thanks for your support, I will send you a PM

Hey Anamore,

I have been off Roxy 30mg for almost a month now, i was on them for about a year and a half, i went to a doctor that majors in that type of meds, he put me on suboxones 8mg half in am and half at night, when u take those you CANT take the opiates or it will send you into withdrawls, if i did not have them to help me i dont know what i would have done..you get taperd off them too but no withdrawls. your lucky you can sleep, i had restless legs and COULDNT sleep i would stay up all night dealing with the pain crying.i didnt think i would ever get clean, and i am and will stay that way. keep ur head up but u can only do it if YOU want too no one else can make u.anyways ill be on the suboxones for 6months but within that time he will be tapering me down than ill be clean of everything but right now im on those and in a out patient rehab, its like a group therepy it REALLY helps to talk to people in person and i go everyday, you can call the people at any hour if you have a trigger or a relapse.they teach u everything, how to work on relationships, any kind, anger managment etc. its called the star program..if ur interested ill talk to them and find out if theres one around where you live.

keep ur head up (:

hope to hear back

Destiny.

I get restless leg syndrome too sometimes, that is really bad, but I am tapering down slowly and dr has given me meds for the side effects and meds to help me sleep, Today is the 1st day on lower doses, before I was just cutting my doses, Yesterday I went to see my dr and we drew up a schedule for my med use, it helps following that regiment, The chronic pain I have isn't too bad, just getting withdrawal symptoms but its not too bad yet, i think tomorrow I will feel it more, Thanks for your suporrt Destiny, it helps so much know I have friends out there that will reach out and write to me. It gives me the strength to go on,

day 4 of detoxing and feeling worse, I think you go up sloowly feeling sick, hit the peak and then slowly it goes down, as the drug leaves your body, today I feel really sick, can't seem to concentrate, hot then cold, sweating, heart racing, nausea and so on and on, the shakiness is bad, but I am deterimed to do this, I want to start the new year w/ less pain meds, unfortunatly due to my physical condition, I will never be pain free, but I don't need the high doses the dr have prescribed for me since I 1st hit bottom and got so sick from drugs and alcohol.

I want to thank all the members that have offered their support, it really helps having someone there, telling you that you can do it, not to fall back to taking the 40mg oxy, it would be so easy to just take 1, I would feel so much better but I can't, I started this, I don't need 40mg oxy for my pain, but the pain is so bad now, I just hope its from the detoxing and not from my medical problems.

I did use several herbal teas, that helped, I didn't see any herbal anti narcotics in my herbal store but then I live in the country and my access to things are limited, I did use herbal teas, to help w/ insomnia, nausea, abdominal issues and so on. Now I drink alot of green tea, decaf, it helps sooth my stomach. there is help out there, we just need to know where to look and always do it w/ a dr supervision because even herbs can have a bad effect on you
