Hi all,

Just wondering about this as I am at the moment trying to help my husband get off injecting meth. I was always of the opinion that heroin was harder to get off but after some research it's looking like meth is also a pretty hectic drug to give up and from what I can gather, keeps it's claws in for longer.

Opinions?

I really don't know which is harder, I know they are both hard to quit but going to rehab and having a support system really helps. Does anyone know the answer to this question?
My advice is purely personal. I am not a Doctor. Please do not take anything I say as medical advice or a diagnosis.

id have to say heroin is harder cause its a very pure opiate wich makes u very sick when u stop usage and try to withdraw from....meth is a stimulant ....u get very tired an iratable and feel like u will never be happy again but it passes, its the cravings that dont go away so fast. i have kicked both meth an opiates an nether is no walk in park but the opates flat out make u hurt.

I have been hooked on injecting meth before and it is not easy at all,but it is like steve said, the cravings and moods are very bad for the meth but they do go away. You are physically ill with heroin,so bad you want to use again not get high but just to keep from getting sick. Good Luck and let us know how you are doing. If you can take him to a rehab that would be best and most likely have the best results. We are here for you.
I have an illness ,I am not my illness.

Thanks guys, Id always thought meth was more of a psychological addiction rather than physical, would that be right? My sister kicked a bad meth addiction a few years ago and says she still struggles to stay away from it. She also says it is definitely a physical addiction as she got pretty sick coming off it. I guess comparing the two drugs is silly because they are so different... Practically opposites.

Anyway my husband didn't last long. He swore to be honest and tell me if and when he felt the urge to have a hit, iv asked him many times over the last three days and each time he simply says it's easy, he doesn't want to use it... I did think this was a bit odd as I know it's not that easy even if u really dont want to use it. I just found his stash... Again. This really sucks Sad

I just want him to get clean but I can't force him if he doesn't want to... The hardest part is that he swore he'd be honest if I didnt get mad or judge him and he's lied to met yet again when I thought we were getting somewhere, silly, hopeful me thought we'd tackle it together.

Reality truly is a bitch.... Where to go from here? He clearly won't give it up and I have children to think of. I know the answer....

Sorry for rambling, need to let it out somewhere.
