Step 3: We made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of God as we understood Him.

I will admit that this is not an easy step to do. I've been clean for 4 and a half years, so I did this then having to do with drugs. At this point in my life, I am turning over my will and life over to God about my codependency and relationship addiction.

Diagnosed Bipolar 2005(FOUND OUT IN 2012 THAT I WAS MISDIAGNOSED),Recovering Addict,ADHD,
Anxiety Disorder, EBV, fibromyalgia, sporadic hemiplegic migraines, chronic fatigue syndrome

I am not a doctor. I give advice about things, but you should never take my advice over that you would get from your doctor. My advice is just what I have learned from my life experiences and is just my opinion.

This is a hard one for me. how do you turn your will and life to god. Do you sit back and see where life takes you, do you take responsibility for your abuse, I don't understand how to turn your will to God or higher power, To me it seems like you do nothing and depend on God to lead you, how does he lead you,
My advice is purely personal. I am not a Doctor. Please do not take anything I say as medical advice or a diagnosis.

In AA they have 12 steps that you have to go through to stop using alcohol and drugs, they guide you to a clean life. The 12 steps have helped many addicts, I think they are very useful but for me and my beliefs it was hard to do all 12, I did most of them but like Step 3 , I didn't know how to do, How do you give your will up to a higher power is too confusing to me, its like doing nothing and let your life go, I had therapy, (cognitive therapy) and that helped me get clean, But I am glad Jenny has started posting the steps again because they are important for members who want to get clean or to stay clean. Look back at the older threads to find Step 1 and 2, I didn't do all the steps, its just a form of therapy for addiction, so you do the best you can on every step, some you fail at, like I am w/ step 3. But the other steps were very useful to me
