I will be okay! Thank you for asking. Ive been under alot of stress lately. My daugher being sick, my illness, and just a ton of financial things that never seem to stop. Now my basement flooded and alot of things that are priceless are ruined. It will get better.

As for the people we choose in our lives....here goes!

I was abused as a child. I chose people that reminded of what the people were like from my childhood. I thought that I didn't deserve to be happy, that it was okay to be treated that way. I learned different. i learned that I was worth being taken care of and loved.

I chose another "loser." I thought I was going nuts!!! Not again. I didn't trust my instincts and all of the red flag warnings I had. He lied to me constantly....before we dated! I dated him anyways!!!

More therapy and learning about myself. Still had issues with trust and especially trusting myself.

Yet another "loser" and more therapy. Still working on the issue of my childhood.

Finially I got into recovery. I went through the steps and forgave myself for making mistakes. I let go of all of the resentments that I was holding in. I took the time to figure out what I WANTED in a relationship. I stopped looking for love and let it find me. I first loved myself and then loved another. I took my time when we were dating. Looking for "red flags." Trusting myself and my instincts.

I'm in a relationship now. It isn't always rosey and joyful....but it is alot better than any of the others I had been in.

We teach people how to treat us. If we let them walk on us...they will. Do you go to counseling at all? A group or books about co-dependancy might be helpful. That was a big eye opener for me!

If you'd like to talk, you can PM me anytime.

Take care. Your friend,Chris
