Hi! Well, my husband had a Cat scan this morning and immediately afterwords I received a phone call from our Doctor's office enlightening me of their findings, stating that it was "very bad". This was something that they were hoping would not come up on the cat scan, but it did. Now he is on a strictly clear liquid diet through the weekend, and on two very strong antiobiotics. He is doing well for the first night - his stomache is growling like crazy, but he hasn't eaten a thing! He was directed not to eat anything until Monday morning, when he has an appointment to follow up with our Doctor. Is this normal? And do people recover from "very bad" diverticulitis? My husband had been playing his excrutiating pain off to me as being mild, or light cramps in the lower abdomen. It's not until now that he is clearly diagnosed with having this problem that he is enlightening me of how he REALLY feels and how much pain he is REALLY having to deal with! I'm scared for him. I know he's scared too. What is the cause of this? How can we prevent this from happening again?

Hi! I ignored my pain for way over a month till I couldn't stand it any more. Ridin' in a car hurt me so much. Walkin' too. Bending as well. Name it it was messin' with my left abdomen area. The pain came from 3 areas in my left abdomen. In the shape of the arrow on your keyboard pointing left, too. Massaging my tum did not help. I finally gave up and went in to the Dr and he put me in the hospital for a Catscan with barium shake and IV antibiotics. They said they did not see anything on the scan???? That was my PCP. They set me up for a colonoscopy and went to the screening for it. Mentioned I had 2-3 days of tachycardia craziness and had to wait to see a Heart DR to get a clearance to do the colonoscopy cause of the anesthesia. All that was March 28 and jsut now got my colonoscopy Monday the 30th of June. My PCP got aggrivated cause he did not know that they had cancelled my colonoscopy that the gastroenterologist ordered for me. Glad there was a delay. Found out thru the Echocardiogram that I MAY have Pulmonary Hypertension. That would explain how lousy I've been breathing while laying in bed. Lay down and could not breath at all. Some shortness of breath and stuff.I figure it could also be I am out of shape from not being active outside like I used to be.(Grandkids came along and things changed cause I was needed to help out.Lived with us) So now I am aware of a lot more things abt myself and am ready to take care of it. Best that I can.More fibre.More good veggies as I can get them. No white bread, junk like that.Drink plenty of waterbetween meals and be more active. We can just do our best ya'll. Right?? Nite...Jackie [img]
