My insurance wont cover my diabetic supplys I had an acue-check machine my insurance Athem wouldnt cover it so They gave me a contour diabetic machine and now athem wont cover the test strips for it. I tryed callng my insurance company they gave me a number said my doctor has to call it to see whats covered I talked with my doctor he said hes having trouble with that company as well as my pharmacy I feel at a end here i cant seem to get no where with this stupid insurance. si anyone else gettng denied ? what else is there to do ?

Hi, Journal, have you got your insurance companies website? you should be able to go there and see what they do cover as far as meters and such, you can also buy test strips on your own without a script but you would be looking at full price for them.. check ebay and see if you can't find some reasonable ones, just watch out for the ones that have expired dates on them, and that they offer a money back guarantee.. another option would be to go to www.diabetesnet.com and check out their meters and stuff, a meter, a 100 test strips etc can be gotten for under 70.00, Earle one of the others here have posted about a walmart version too that is reasonable, just dig around in the links for it, or perhaps he can repost here on it, it's b.s. that your doctor has to call and find out what is available, that is what they are for, to answer your questions, give you the information you need, your doctor is only there to write the scripts, not do their work for them, if they have a website, you should be able to get it off there, otherwise call them back and keep going up the line of authority to find someone that is willing to do their job..
