MDJunction to me

tomboykimi"What MD Junction means to me is a place where i can feel like im not alone. As someone with something as rare as hydrocephalus, it feels like im the only one in the world with it. When i came to MD, its like everyone has it. It doesnt feel like im alone. And that people need to hold up a sign to say what i have, because people know. And they understand. I can get questions answered from people who have been through it rather than from doctors or people who only can tell you from a physical standpoint. THat is what MD junction means to me." Hello!! I'm Joe, and it's great to be in this group. I have been diabetic for 12 yrs now. I was such a bad patient for 11 & 3/4 yrs. I never took real care of my diabetes. Well I have paid the price for not taking care of it. I started drinking serious amounts of alcohol, and did the SEEfood diet. Well in January this year I went to the hospital with a blood glucose level of 410, I was so disoriented; dizzy, lightheaded, and just wanted to sleep. After the 5 days I was in I decided I really need to take much better care of myself and get a better control over my diabetes. Little did I know that the damage was already done. I developed gastroparesis, had my gallbladder removed, and became disabled. I realized in the last 6 months just how much of fool I was to not pay any attention this disease. Alas there is a small silver lining to this cloud. I had my A1C checked in April it was 11.3%...pausing for gasps….I then had it re-checked this past Tuesday and it was 9.6%!!! It was such a happy feeling knowing that in only 2 months I have made great improvement. I do know that’s still high, and my doc wants it down to 6-7% but I’m getting there. So I hope my story will encourage people that feel “it’s ok to wait and not worry about diabetes” to read my story and KNOW it’s NOT ok to wait, YOU need to nip it in the bud a.s.a.p.!! Thank you and God bless you!!

Hello Joe, I am new here as well. I was just told about my Diabetes on tuesday. I do not go back to the dr until this coming tuesday, so I have no idea what to expect. I like to pretend sometimes if I ignore something it will go away. With all of my other medical conditions, I really did not want to be told I had Diabetes, but I gues it is better I found out sooner rather than later. I hope I am strong enough to follw what the dr says to do. I know it is going to be a big lifestyle change...

Thank you for your post.

Kyra
