MDJunction to me

grandmasylvia"MDJ has been "a soft place to fall" for me as Dr Phil says. I have this very painful rare disease Dercum's Disease and take comfort in finding others here who share their knowledge and compassion. Many
members have helped me just by understanding my anguish and validating
my pain. We are working together to encourage research toward a cure.

I was off for Spring Break last week and started back to work on Monday with a migraine. Then had another one Monday night, another one Tuesday morning, another Tuesday evening, another one Wednesday around lunchtime and woke up with one this morning. The one this morning had me on the floor with vomiting and extreme nausea. I had to call in to work. On the other days, I just took an Imitrex and pushed on through...but couldn't handle it today. I got up to send in my lesson plans...kept having to go get sick in the restroom while typing up my plans. Then I took a phenergan that I had left over from my last surgery and it took away the nausea. I took an Ambien and went back to sleep. I still have a slight headache, but it isn't the headache where it feels like an icepick is behind my eye and stabbing into my nose. I think the sleep did me good today. We have big state tests next week on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. I can breathe a little after that. I have 3 appointments next week...one with cardiologists, one with rheumatologist, and one with ob/gyn. Then, the next week, on the 27th, I go to Dr. Arbiser at Emory who is supposed to be a Dercum's Specialist. I am also planning on seeing a plastic surgeon sometime to schedule abdominoplasty with lipoma excision and then to see about getting them removed from around my ribs, on my legs, and my arms also. I am going to get the skin cut off since it is so lax due to the gastric bypass and the lumps are in the lax skin. Therefore, I feel like I will have less chance of leaving any part of the lump and I will also have less chance of regrowth.
Hugs,
Jennifer

Wow Jennifer!! You are taking the bull by the horns! Will insurance cover removal of the skin? I am so sorry that you are having migraines. I get them so I know how awful you feel. If, by any chance you have been constipated...I think that keeps waste in your body and can cause the prolonged ones. I know I don't go when I am on vacation away from home! My migraines require that I stay in bed with an ice bag..if I stay until it is completely gone..it is over..but if I try to get up before it is all gone..it comes back. I take Excedrin MIGRAINE and drink a big cup of coffee and then lay with a cold wet hand towel on my head with a big ice bag over that.None of the pills ever helped me.I hope you are better now. Hugs, Grandma Sylvia

Hi Grandma Sylvia, I doubt insurance will cover the removal of the skin...so have to pay for it myself. I haven't had a problem with constipation. I take magnesium that takes care of that. I can't take excedrin as it is an NSAID and I can't take any NSAID's. I am feeling better now...so glad it is Friday afternoon.
Hugs,
Jennifer
