Recently I have found I have a fractured bone in my ankle.... I am not sure why....

It feels horrible. I am going to a orthopedic doctor today, though it has been fractured for over 2 weeks... I only found out last week that it was fractured.

UGH

And as of yesterday there was some cracking and now severe pain! Is bone problems common with you all?

I have always had problems with my ligaments and been double jointed. Now that I am older my toes pop out of the sockets at times and I also have the same problem with the middle fingers on my left hand only. It can be very painful and happen randomly without any warning. Apparently this problem with ligaments is one of the commonalities with fibromyalgia which I have also been dx with. I've only had one broken bone but that was when I fell off a small ladder when changing a light bulb. It was a very small distance but I guess it was the way I fell so never gave it much thought.

I'm an Advocate

Hi Tala...I'm so sorry for this most recent health problem. We DD people do have many foot problems. I had a MRI of my foot and the doctor said I have so many things that need fixed and he can't do any of them because my diabetes is so bad. I have chronic ankle sprains..like one every 3 months or so..as I had bad sprains when I was younger so they sprain easily now. I fell several years ago and shattered my radial head. They could not fix it so they just removed the pieces. I have regained a lot of use of the arm after a lot of PT. Tala I'm glad you are getting treatment because if you don't you can get chronic sprained ankles like me. Good luck! Hugs, Grandma Sylvia

Hi to all and to Tala

Dercums may cause many feet problems... like Tarsal tunnel which is Carpel Tunnel in the foot. I have it and it causes a growth of fibres under my foot which can bend the foot and cause heel spurs which is why a lot of us have pain on walking. With the aid of cushioning in foot wear this pain maybe relieved. I have cracking and popping sensations in my right foot. I found a link and that helped me as I did some exercises and found it helped with my numb Right toe.

There is also connective tissue issue (that rhymes !!) that I have noted too... I receive supplements for this and have noticed a tightening of my joints which gives my hips, knees and ankles strength again. My skin went very loose around my face when I was at my worst!!! I had the melted look. Eyebrows could be placed on cheek bones and they stayed there. The doc was totally mystified!! All is well now for me in my skin elastic-ness !!! (cant find the right word for tight skin LOL)

With Dercums having inflammation issues is seems to be a correct diagnoses, What do you think members????

Here is the link, I would really appreciate hearing your ideas and experiences on feet and joint issues. If the ligaments are affected then wouldn’t breaking bones, sprains etc be a common thing with Derkies... (Dercum sufferers!!)

Grandma Sylvia!

Are there any exercises that can help chronic ankle sprains?

How do you help the ankle heal? (mine has been over 3 months already)

Did the physicians give you any words of wisdom?

thanks and dercumhugs, carole

Hi Dercumshug

lol ur melting skin is actually the connective tissue problem and I found that was low in iodine which affects the thyroidal. I ate food rich in iodine and was put on several supplements this is one that really helped pull me together LOL

Blackmores S.S.S

I have found that this really worked for me... I also take other natural ones as I have described to rid my body of the excess fluid ( refer my diary for note !!)

My skin very much improved and my ankles are less sore. I found to that before taking them my hips had become loose and I felt I was in fear of popping a hip out... the hips feel tight and my core strength also has improved... I will be posting some more pics to show every one here the difference it has made for me without the use of those nasty compression suits.

Pics show more than a thousand words !!!!!
