Hello everyone, Happy New Year! I've had Dercums for awhile and am waiting on blood results as to whether I have Lupus now..does anyone else here have Lupus and the persistant facial rash..I have a wonderful cream that I'm using 3 times a day and just finished a 2 week regimen of prednisone..the rash is 90% gone in the a.m. but slowly comes back during the day but not nearly as inflamed as before..thank you for any info..I also have Chronic fatigue syndrome, restless leg syndrome, fibromyalgia, IBS, PTSD, Vasal vegus nerve syndrome and other minor annoyances. I always say if I had the initials of all these illnesses behind my name I'd be a specialist, ha ha. I'm 63 and in great spirits...

Teenie,

I really hope that your test come back with some sort of conclusive answer. I haven't heard any other members say that they have had Lupus but I have heard of other auto-immune disease in conjunction with DD. I have had a couple of really good friends get diagnosed with Lupus and it has been a long road for them. Nothing helped them more than changing their diet. They went to a gluten free organic diet and they said it was night and day difference. Let us know what you find out.

Yep that is what they told me. To add; since I was diagnosed with DD I have stuck to no beef and only farm raised chickens and pigs. I try to eat only organic and what veggies are in season. Since doing this I have seen a significant decrease in lipoma growth and pain. I am a strong believer, you are what you eat.

Hey Damien, do you eat sugar, use splenda or both or neither? I love sweets but wonder what that might do...I don't do well with beef at all but do eat chicken, some pork and seafood.

I do have sugar. On that note I use organic raw. I tell myself that is better for me. Who knows? I love some seafood! I probably eat sushi like 3 times a week.

Dear friends, I saw this questions about Lupus. As both my mother and I have DD it is familiar to me. My mother use an anti allergic medication( antihistamins I think) to prevent those rashes and she is doing fine when it comes to this. As DD probably is an autoimmune illness this was recommended by the famous DR. Fagher her in Sweden. Other doctors like dermatologists have guessed that it was because of the sun and my mother and I always laughes about this because nothing happens when she is out when the sun shines. They even took a biopsy and they said it´s not Lupus even if she has this typical Wolf- bite mark on her face. Just some info from Sweden! Warm and soft hugs, Annette

Hi all, now i will through my 2 centsw worth in. After 4 yrs. of doing just about everything i have found the following things. Yes this thing is very much connected to the immune system. DD is very strong and you must use the best products you can afford.I have fasted 8 days, felt great ,lasted 6 days and poof it was gone, and the weight came back really quickly no matter what i did.I did all the food test cut out this add this,no meat ,no pasta it made no difference.I have used raw sugar which is better for you because you use less. Sweetners are the worst ,to much extra stuff. Try and get organic if possible it is the extra stuff that sets off this thing and whenDD fights the damage can't be undone. Beleive me you will kick youself and only do stupid stuff once. I have found if i eat little and often anything i want my weight says the same and if i eat desert eat the best, sm amt.In my case because i am a gardener and around cemicals and well water i carry a lot of heavy metals which don't help my breathing.( that's just me).All of us need to keep our immune system strong by taking something to help it . I take a product called Defense plus by NutriBiotic in Ca. I am sure you can find it on line i only take it when i feel run down, travel or around people with colds. No more colds and Broncitis, and i was getting broncitis about every few months. Next probiotis (Dr. Herbst likes proboast, yogert is not strong enough.I had ibs for a long time, now I take really strong probiotis and fiber and I am fine. Those 2 things will make your life better!. IT is all a guessing game but if something works for me I like to share. I have had my blood vessels lazered twice to open them up so fluid can move and my pain is much better. good luck ,stay calm,Wendy

Hello Teenie,

I have had DD for many years, but finally got an official diagnosis just a few years ago. I also have the almost constant rash on my face off and on thruoughout the day. It does go away sometimes, but mostly I have what were first considered as "hot flashes". I had an upper GI done and found many, many polyps in my stomach. Then the GI specialist told me that the polyps were the cause of the red face and hot flash feeling. I was told to stop Prilosec as the problems may resolve or atleast would weaken in intensity. It has worked so far for me. I still have the hot flashes, feeling hot, and red face, however, the intenity has lessened and it is now tolerable. I too was tested for Lupus and a stomach cancer called carcinogenic syndrome. Thank goodness, I don't have either of those medical conditions. After searching on the internet I found that one of the "very rare" side effects to prilosec is multiple stomach polyps. Also, the "feeling hot" is one of the symptoms to DD. Many of us with DD have this symptom.

Hugs, Celeste.
