Gma,

Yes I get that pain pretty frequently. I had a prettty large lipoma removed from the bottom of my right rib cage. The pain subsided for a while but still returns every once in a while due to lipoma regrowth.

Thank you for the speedy reply! I don't know if I have lipomas there or not, I'm overweight so its hard to tell, but I sure can feel the sharp pain.

Sure thing gma, it's another thing many of have in common. Lots of us call it the "stitch" and can be a very sudden sharp pain at unexpected times. Just another one of those things...Be well Smile

Right Margie and Damien...a lot of us started with pain in the ribs and back. Mine did..it fallowed the bottom of my rib cage all the way around to the front. Over time lots of lipomas grew and the ones in my side now are as big as ping-pong balls. It is almost unbelievable how so many of our symptoms are similar. I called it my rib pain for years until other places started getting lumps. I used to wear a rib-belt..for years..it was just an elastic support that squeezed me..so I could stand to go to work. So we are unfortunately..the experts. I would rather be an expert on the stock market but alas..not! Hugs, Grandma Sylvia

Hi,

I have them too and my lower back area is getting worse. In fact, I went through a period of about seven years where I had pneumonia and bronchitis (along with asthma) so many times that I lost count. When these diseases were coming on, I had lots of the rib cage pain - and I felt like I was itching internally. (I finally learned how long I had to wait to go to the doctor before the infection would show up on his tests.) I shared the pain and itching feellings with the doctor once and his response made me keep it secret from then on! (I don't keep any secrets any more though.)

So another welcome to the club gma!

Sometimes I think we should all be in a hospital together and let the symptoms roll - while it is being filmed, of course! It would be called fiction, of course.

Mine all started years ago in by my sternum and then would spread to the rest of the ribs in my chest. I have them also on my kidney areas and my sides going around to my back. To me these are the most painful and tender. I have had people come up and poke me to talk to me or get my attention and they have landed right on one of them. It about sends me into orbit. Tears well up in my eyes from the pain. I have been suffereing with this since my 20's and I am turning 40 this year. I am living one day at a time. Smile

I can relate to it all. Mine started with about 4 growths in my back at the age of 16, then I Finally had one removed at the age of 17. Since then they progressed throughout my back, into my sides and have wrapped my up in a lumpy present throughout mu abdomen, into my arms, thighs, calves...and now growing in my neeck. For most of us where and how often they grow vary. But we all can relate to certain types of weather flaring us up, certain locations hurt or are trouble some more than others. It can be uncomfortable.... but remember take one day at a time.

Smile

Much love to you, hope you all feel better!

Jean

Wow, thank you all so much! So glad to know I'm not crazy or just a wimp. My back hurts and the pain in my ribs comes and goes and sometimes its my right side and other times its my left, also my abdomen is very swollen, although I know my gp thinks I'm just overweight and gaining more in my stomach. I can feel that I'm swollen and its much different than normal weight gain. My new dermatologist diagnosed me but said that unless I need to have one removed, I don't need to see her for a year. I don't know if I need a new gp or what because since this is all new to me I would like to see a Dr that is willing to spend a little time with me and discuss my treatment options and what to expect. Since I live near Columbus Ohio I might see if my gp will refer me to grandma Sylvia's Dr at OSU.

Hi All,

I also have the rib pain, back pain, kidney pain and chest pain when I take a deep breath. I had an ultrasound done that showed enlarged liver with "alittle fat" in the liver. I went to a liver transplant specialist and he ordered a focused MRI to take a closer look at the liver. The results were shocking to me. My liver is very enlarged and has what they called "difusely fatty liver". The Dr. told me that my liver was stuffed with liver and that is what the back pain, rib pain, kidney pain and chest pain is from the expanding liver that now has nowhere else to go. Normally your liver is on the left side and stretches across the mid section of the abdomin. My liver is so large it has filled my abdomin and is hanging down the right side where is should not be. My liver is pressing on the spine, kidneys, ribs, and makes a deep breath very painful. Funny how the ultrasound just showed "alittle fat" in the liver. The Focused MRI is the way to go to get a really good look at the liver. It sure made sense as to where the pain is comming from also. I now have been told I have a "difusely fat, non-alcholic fatty liver".

Probably from Dercum's disease (alot of us with DD have fatty livers), although, fatty liver can be caused by other diseases also that prevent the body from using our fat stores for energy. Diet and exercise will not work to remove this fat from the liver on people who don't burn their fat properly.

Celeste.
