My husband took pictures of me laying on my side and captured the lumps in my hips. No one else had really seen it that way except for him. I covered all of my private areas with a towel, but still don't want to just post the pictures here. If any of you would like to see them and give me your take on them...whether you think it is Dercum's or could be something else...like me being crazy like a lot of my doctors have already indicated..hahah...send me your email address and I will forward the pictures to you!

Hugs,

Jennifer

My email is jsrigdon@yahoo.com

I have matching lipomas on each hip. They are almost in the exact same spot. Same on my back and my thighs... it is odd how some almost mirror each other on each side of my body. I wonder sometimes if that is odd or if others have that too.

Dercum's lipomas are usually symmetrical...from what I have read and from my own personal experience. When I suddenly feel a new one and rub on it and find a new lump, I can usually rub on the other side and feel the same lump on exactly the opposite side of my body. That is what comforts me that this isn't malignant tumors...as cancer usually doesn't hurt and is usually not symmetrical on your body!

Your pics look a lot like mine too! Mine are not as big (yet) but are visible to the naked eye. Mine maych on my hips and elsewhere too... sometimes in the exact same spot and other times just a tad bit over than the mirror image on the other side. (like an inch higher or lower)

Oh well, I guess there is something good about having matching sides! It might be worse to have one lumpy hip and not the other (can you tell I am grasping at straws for the silver lining in this? LOL!)

Hey lumpy ladies...and gent.

I just wanted to let you know that my lumps are fine in my breasts. They said that there were some images of lumps but they aren't the c word. Thank goodness. My lumps are symentrical too. I think that it is very common. I do have lumps on my stomach that are not though. Hope all is well with everyone. Feel free to contact me if you need me. I have having a couple of good days so I am up and about.

Gentle Hugs,
Christine

So glad that it seems that the lumps aren't cancer! That is great news.

Yes, Suri, I understand what you mean about grasping for the silver lining here!!

Question...I have been doing more research and saw where hypoglycemia can also be a part of Dercum's. I have PCOS which causes insulin resistance, but if I don't eat, I get the shakes and start feeling horribly sick. I carry peanut butter and crackers as well as almonds around with me at all times..just in case. I was just wondering if this happens to any of you as well.

Hugs,

Jennifer

I also wanted to add that my contacts give me fits because my eyes get dry....I also ALWAYS have a drink with me...usually a bottled water or tea because my mouth will get so dry that I will gag. Does this happen to you also?

haha...I keep thinking of things that are different about me that I wonder now if it is Dercum's! I sweat VERY easily. The summertime is horrible for me. I also freeze...especially my hands and feet. My skin is soooo cold to the touch. I don't seem to produce my own heat. I get in bed at night and there is cold coming from my skin. I sit with a heater on my feet and legs when I am at the computer. My feet don't warm up easily...nor do my hands and my breasts hurt when I am cold. Is that just me...or do any of you have that also?
Hugs,
Jennifer

There is an easy answer on the eye and mouth dryness. It is called Sjogren's disease. This is a dercums reaction. It is quite common for us to get this. As for being cold.Either we are hot or cold. sometimes both. Hope this helps.
Gentle Hugs,
Christine
