I used to takr Lexapro till insurnace decided not to pay for it so I was switched to Celexa.

It did very well for 2 years and then i noticed it wasn't working as well.

I talked to doc and she added Deplin to it because one of Deplin's uses is to boost anti-depression meds.

It did.

I have been taking it for about a year now and have good results.

Yes, I have experienced a decrease in effects of Lexapro at times, but doesn't seem to be any different than feeling a decrease of effects in any other drug. Sometimes it just happens and either need to up the dose or try a different med. Talk to you doctor about it.

i haven't taken Lexapro before but agree with Rachele that most meds lose their effectiveness after awhile. I think you just build up an immunity to them after time. At least that's been my experience with all my meds over the years. So you can either try upping the dosage or changing meds, of course per your doctor. Hugs and God Bless.

Hi Misswan I'd like to welcome you to our support group and don't forget we are always here and you can rant all you want and just let it out. Hope your MD changes your meds because depresson sucks big time. I'm trying to get my MD to do the same and he hasn't called back after calling for three days in a row. Warm Hugs

The doc can increase the dosage temp. or long term, if your chemistry needs it. normally i take 60 mg. but had to go to 80mg. due to the same thing, now i'm back down to 60 mg.

I know what you mean. A year ago, I was maxed out on Lexapro (20mg), and I was still having a really rough time, so my doctor put me on Lamictal to supplement Lexapro. Now I'm worried even that's losing its efficacy Sad

Hi Millow, Welcome to the group. Gee I didn't know 20mg was the max for Lexapro. I think it goes higher but I'd have to check on that. How's the Lamictal? It's always a concern when you take a med for some time that it looses it's efficacy. That's why docs switch it up a bit and try something new if one no longer works or is less effective than previously. Rachele
