Hello, I hope that by joining this group I can get some support to get through this difficult time. I even hate to admit that I need help especially for depression. I am going to take my nurses advice and go ahead and take some medication to help me through this. I'm usually the one who picks people up, not the one needing to be picked up. Maybe this is just temporary, I don't know, I just know that I can't shake this off anymore.

Thanks for listening....

Hi welcome Waitingforparadise. We all suffer depression here and know how it feels and how hard it is to admit we have it and need the help of others. But please know you are not alone. This is a good caring group and I hope you will feel as comforted and supported as I do and many here. Rachele

I'm an Advocate

Hi Waiting4paradise and welcome to our depression site. We are a warm, welcoming, non-judgmental bunch, so feel free to post whatever and whenever.

There is no shame in depression. It is a disease like any other except that it upsets our brain chemicals instead of something in our bodies. Are you taking any meds for the depression? They often help. Also thereapy can be of help. Just some thoughts.

I hope that you get as much support from this group as I have.

Warm welcoming wishes,

Sylvia

NOTE: I can't imagine anyone is surprised that distracted driving has overtaken drunk driving as the number one cause of death on the road. Please, y'all, keep your eyes sharp when you drive. The guy in the next car could be on a computer in the dash board (whoever dreamed that up should have to watch autopsies), while the one behind you is texting. Hi waiting

As you can already tell we have some of the most caring, thoughtful, understanding folks you will ever met. Just precious.

I fought taking depression meds for more than a year. I just knew I could, by sheer will and determination, beat this thing.

I couldn't.

I have now been on my depression meds for more than 3 years and I am ever more thankful.

My life went from greys to vibrant colors. Not because the meds were giving me some kind of high, it was because they replace chemicals in my brain that were missing.

I look at depression meds as being much like, say, hypertension meds...without hypertension meds your body can quickly have a heart attack or stroke but with them the chances are greatly reduced.

Same with depression meds...they address the needs of the brain much as hypertension meds address the needs of the body.

I read somewhere there is a great percentage of people taking depression meds.

I hope you listen to your body dear and the colors change for you as they did me.

Hugs
