My doctor switched me from Effexor to Cymbalta at the request of my internist. She was a little miffed at first but she had considered switching me recently and had actually cut me from Effexor 300mg down to 150mg. I also take 150mg Wellbutrin with the Effexor and 1mg Klonopin at night. She had me take 30mg Cymbalta and 75mg Effexor for a week then 30mg Cymbalta and 37.5 Effexor for week two. I am now on 30mg Cymbalta and zero Effexor and all I want to do is sleep, wake up, eat and go back to sleep. My dreams are violent and vivid. They also take place in different time eras like the forties. I wasn't even born yet. Is this something anyone else has experienced?

Thanks

This is my very first group ever!

Barb hello, I dont know personally about Effexor or cymbalta, as i am on celexa 40mg. I suppose the dreams are from the meds and maybe if those are the side effects you just have to wait it out. And have you given your doc a call and told him what you are feeling?

I hope you feel better soon and get some energy back. I know how drowsy these meds came make us feel.

take care ...

Welcome Barb to the depression group! I am glad you found us. I was on Cymbalta. At first I had very vivid dreams, so real when I woke up I was confused. That went away after a while. I also take Klonopin at night so it could have been that too.

I had a healthier appetite on Cymbalta also, so much so that I gained 30 lbs in just a few months time. So I discontinued it and asked the dr to put me back on Prozac.

The only good thing the Cymbalta did for me was help the pain/neuralgia in my legs.

Good luck I hope you get some sleep without weird dreams. I would maybe call your doctor, too

Thank you so much for your responses and support. I hope I will be able to help others as well. I will give this new regime a few more days and if there's no improvement I will call my doctor. She didn't tell me there might be side effects since I may have become more anxious but she did say "Let's see how this works" She did mention maybe having to up the dose of Cymbalta.
