Hiya. I have Fibro and quasi-bipolar depression. A couple of months ago my psych prescribed Abilify to help me get through a depressive bout & all though my mood has been more stable, I have become extraordinarily fatigued. I'm considering kicking it but wanted to know if anyone else out there has developed fatigue as a result of taking Abilify.

I'm an Advocate

Welcome to this group. I have never had Abilify. I have know people who have had it prescribed. Please remember that what I say hear is my own opinion only and not based on any known empirical information. The information and observations I have noted are indicative of a medication to be used with an enormous degree of caution. It is a relatively new drug and popular among doctors to prescribe at present. This is not (my opinion) based on its effectiveness as a drug, but rather because doctors have received many samples and there is suspected financial incentive for them to prescribe this med. I am not even certain why this would have been prescribed for you since its primary indication is for manic episodes rather than depressive ones. Once more, this is my opinion only, but if a doctor of mine was ever firm about prescribing Abilify for me, I would change doctors.
May I be guided to accept others who may differ from me and always separate opinion from fact. I insist that others put the benefit of the group before anything else, regardless of a well meaning agenda. If what you say is a fact, you can back it up. If not, it's opinion and should be called that. The safety of members is paramount.

Thanks for your input. All the information I have found about Abilify's side effects has made me feel as though it is quite wrong for someone with my health issues. I intend to discontinue it & make my doctor aware of his mistake.

Jenibubble, I would speak to your doctor before stopping the medication on your own. Many drugs have a major effect on your body if you abruptly stop taking it. I know a couple of people who took it for a while and they had to be weaned off of it over a month or so.. This is just what they told me. I have never used it.
My statements here are solely from my own experiences. I am not a doctor, nor an expert in any way shape or form. Stay safe, positive and strong!Remember two things, you have your illness, it does not have you, and we are stronger together!
