Being in recovery for other stuff, I think that I have dependency issues about having to have a spouse. Now that I'm working on my PTSD and anger issues, this has come to mind... I've always wondered why it was so important that I be married.
I am who I am, but I am trying to get better.

Don't know... just seems urgent when I'm not... Perhaps I'll find out as my therapist and I peel my "onion" as it were...

HI Glenn, glad you joined us here.

Codependancy is a strange critter.

For myself I think I was trying to fill a void in myself (in an attempt to make myself whole) and I thought my wife was it. Now having gone through therapy for my codependant issues I know my wife cannot fill that void only I can. I am a whole person, the void was something I percieved as missing. Now our relationship is so much deeper because I want her in my life, I do not NEED to have her in my life.

GOD BLESS

RED

Thanks for sharing that Red, it took me a while to figure out I am a whole person on my own, I've seen to many women run from man to man as they felt something wasn't right with them if they weren't with someone, I stayed single for a long time before getting in a relationship, as I knew I had healing work that needed done on me before I could consider bringing another life in with mine.

I have to agree with you, being wanted in someone's life is more stable and desirable than being just needed.

Hey you guys, you just cleared up something that was bothering me... the filling of an empty space that doesn't really exist!!! Thanks...

Now that the issue has been put into focus, I can work on it..

Cool, glad to hear that, sometimes hearing from others makes it easier to see things that are otherwise covered, Red here is a sweetheart, I tease him and call him a Saint, when I have needed someone to talk with, he has been there for me, I hope you will bend his ear when you need a male to talk with.
