Just about everyone in my family has some kind of addiction. The worst how ever is my 17 year old brother. I have so much anger and resentment towards him I dont know what to do or how to think. I often find my self getting upset with my mother because it seems she "coddles" him too much. I am a wreck right now and cant stop crying. I should let you know that he is in a boys school now however I dont think its helping! I need to find a meeting place in my town or county to help me with this problem if anyone can help me PLEASE DO!

Sorry your having such a hard time right now. My family was similar, the relief was to get out. Unfortunately the thought process follows you unless you do something to get past it. It sounds like codependency working in your family, learning about it will help you identify when and if you do it.

Please know to not be codependent is to not try to fix the other person. You can't fix your brother or mother. They have to fix themselves.

the above link is a good one to see if there are any support groups in your area.

Lori gave you the best advice...there is not much to add...you can't fix other people. You can only take care of yourself.

Comments made by me are from my own experience and they are my opinion alone, whose intent is only to share that opinion and not to give medical advice nor discourage from seeking medical help. Medicine is best left to the professionals that is what they do.
