MDJunction to me

ThereseML"When I first came to MDJ, I was in need of peer support in dealing with issues of my childhood abuse. I was moving away from the painful issues and trying to find an uplifting group of people to help me transition to a thriver in my life. I found that here. I also found a group of peers with Fibromyalgia and found the same uplifting experience there. My computer crashed and it was a while before I found my way back, this time with issues related to Parkinson's Disease. I had tried a few other support sites before reminding myself of MDJ. On those, I never got a reply. I finally found my way back here and again found very supportive, caring and inspiring people who made me feel like I was 'back home'. Indeed I am." (ThereseML)

Hey Smile

Although I became a member a short time ago, I lacked the confidence to speak. I recently took a short break away from everything in my life, and now I feel ready.

I'm 18, and my Nan has multi-infarct dementia. My Nan has struggled with this for 18 years and about 7 years ago we had to move her into a nursing home. I do my best to visit her every other night with my mum, but sometimes it's challenging. The support in this community helps me through and I hope to support you all and share some hope Smile

Best wishes to all,

Vicky

Hi Vicky, Thanks for speaking up and joining us. It is really encouraging to know that we are helping people we didn't even know while we were just trying to help each other through this. I am glad that it worked out like that!

I am sure that you are a huge support not only to your Nan, but to your Mum as well. It is challenging to be there for your family when they are going through this but also know how to balance your own life as well since there is so much to do at your age. I am sure this adds to the challenge of it for you. I know I had trouble sometimes feeling guilty about going off to school and leaving my parents to take care of my Grandparents without me, though at that point things weren't to the point that they HAD to have me, it was just a lot of work.

Anyway, welcome to the group. Glad you decided to post!
