Hi Sandie, my name is Cassie and I am 20 years old. 4 years ago I suffered multiple pulmonary embolisms (clots in my lungs). My case was pretty sever and I remained in the hospital for almost a month. While in the hospital I had a greenfield filter put in. If your doctors did not do this for you I recomend that you ask them about it. It is placed in the main vein to the heart and will block any future clots from going thru. Pulmonary embolisms are usually fatal, but thank God you and I are here to help others. If you do not know what triggered the clots you need to find out. It is very likely that you have a blood clotting dissorder either factor 5 lieden or anti-thrombin 3 deficiency. I have anti-thrombin 3 deficiency and it is extremely rare and it is hereditary. If you take birth control you really need to be aware that they increase your chances of another clot. In Jan. of last year I became preg. and shortly after I was diagnosed with the dissorder. In Sept I gave birth to my first child, a son, Noah, and he passed away at 2weeks old of blood clots. Since then I have been staying home and I dedicate as much time as I can to helping others. If there is any thing you need to know or if you just want to talk feel free to email me ANY time, I am always here. My prayers are with you. Remember, God has now left you here for a reason. You will get thru this. cms_36451@yahoo.com

Sorry to hear about your child. Were you on Lovenox while you were pregnant or any treatment for DVT.
From the last time I was on I was told by my gynecologist that I had endometriosis and I had to have a D&C and a new procedure called Novasure.

Previous discussions I participated in:
Lupus rash
Plaquenil and our eyes
just not sleeping again

It is great to finally meet someone who knows about FVL. It is the most common blood disorder. But since it was not given a name until 1995 families have been having strokes.

If you have strokes in you family, you have problems while taking birth control pills, and if you are pregnant with FVL take your Lovenox shots. They are premeasured and packaged ready to use. Since this disorder was not discovered until DNA and computers when I was having my children I had two miscarraiges. I finally had one daughter who by the grace of God is 26 years old. She also has this disorder. It is hereditary. She took shot during her prenancy and for 2 weeks after. And we have 2 wonderful grandsons now 6 and 4.

I urger ANYONE who strokes run in your family or you or a loved one had a stroke I highly urge you to go take the test for FVL. You guys are lucky. The disorder that has been here forever, but just recently discovered I had to have 3 vial of blood drawn and sent to Muncie Indiana for the only doctor in the states that even knew about this. It cost 1,000 per tube to mail to Muncie. When my daughter had hers checked it was 1 vial of blood, stand here in the states and cost 197.00. I'm new here but this is not new subject for me. I do daily things that I MUST do and MUST NOT DO each day. Any questions from anyone I would do my best to help or just listen. Kathy

Hi, I did take Lovenox shots twice a day during my entire pregnancy. I do not have factor 5 lieden (FVL) I have hereditary anti-thrombin iii defficiency which is much more rare than FVL and it is worse. The only people in my family who have been tested are myself and my mother and we both tested positive, to no supprise, since we have both had multiple dvt's and I myself had a pulmonary embolism. Since my sons death many doctors have said I should never again get pregnant, but I'm not willing to accept that just yet so I am going to see some specialist and hopefully get some answers.
