A little about me:

I am a 47 year old lady

Who has been living with Fibromyalgia for the last 27 yrs, and was also diagnosed with systemic lupus about 12 yrs ago

so now they sometimes refer to my condition as mixed connective tissue disease........ what ever the docs want to call it sadley I am still in terrible pain each and every day of my life.

On top of that I also have Recently developed Cushing syndrome from the years of steroids...........

I have lots of question's and my Doc's seem to not know about Cushing's or maybe they think there is nothing they can do to help ...... I do not know

and have another very painful medical condtion called Hidradenitis Suppurativa

Well that's all the bad stuff.........the good news is I hve 3 wonderful daughters all grown now, and have been recently remarried and now have a wonderful Loving

husband.......... after deing alone for 12yrs He is such a blessing and is so good to me.

My Hugs

Hello herro, sorry it took so long to get back on the site,I did not think anyone but was going to post.

I have the steroid induced cushings, have been taking pedisone for 12 yrs or more for SLE Lupus. The Fibro I have had for more than 27 yrs

Do you think a endocrinolgist could be of help to me? I have never seen one, my regular Dr said the only way to maybe help the Cushings would be to stop the predisone but I would really suffer and maybe die from doing that.

Do you have Cushings and Fibo? I would be happy to chat about fibro and cushings maybe we can help each other you could PM me if thats is better for you.

also

There is a great group here on MDJUNCTION.COM it has lots of folks that are wonderul and supportive

Bella

might be worthwhile to see endo, they could test to see if your body will produce it's own cortisol. did you know long term steroid use can cause bone loss? i had cushings for about 10+ yrs but effects don't go away overnite. i will PM you soon sometime, i will look up lupus first to know more what that is. i'm still researching fibro since my doc thinks i have it. i thought those symptoms were from pituitary not producing all the right hormones.. hey-33%of people who appeal SS denial are approved..

I have had several bone density tests over the years and thankfully mine are still very good.

My worst problem with the Cushings is the huge weight gain (150lbs) all seems to be in my belly and breasts.

I eat healthy foods and swim daily but can't lose a pound it just the scale just keeps going up.

The extra pounds make my pain from lupus& fibro even worse I am sure not to mention harder to move, breath everthing.

I wonder if there is anyway to lose the weight, because even last year when I was in the hospital for 7 days with nothing but clear liquid diet, I still did not lose a pound not fair!

I just want to be normal again

i know the feeling, since 1999 i've gained 100 lbs. i lost 60 but gained it back. i had to starve and excerise 2+hrs a day to loose. i ate very little, like some carrots everyday and cup of yogurt every other day. i ate carrots so much my skin had orangeish tinge. but it felt so good to just tie my shoes without holding my breath!

orange skin isn't really bright orange, kind of looks like tan unless you go out into sunlite. i love carrots! i could live on dip, carrots and celery. my son will tie shoes for me if i want. i haven't found slip on ones that i like. i have promation so i need to use inserts. i've had stress fractures in both feet 2x. my feet feel better snuggled up in sneakers!
