Hi Fred! First, you need calm. Colonoscopy is a little unpleasant. For me, the worst is the preparation, but the test itself. This test is needed to diagnose the disease accurately. In my country, this test is performed under sedation, and you can ask to be anesthetized, but in most cases is not necessary. To avoid pain, you could make a soft low residue diet. On the Internet there are a lot of information on these diets.

Have a nice day!

Juan

Welcome Fred! You have made a great step in finding support and answers. All the members know your concerns and questions. We all have been thru it many times. You will find that we all differ in our meds but don't get discouraged as it may take a few times getting that to work. The colonoscopy is easy since you will be sedated and most likely not remember a thing. You will hear horror stories on the prep since it is unpleasant to drink and you must not leave the tiolet area!! It works rather fast and cleans you out in no time. But please post with us and ask whatever you need. No one is shy about giving you the direction you should try. And definitely try to keep stress out of your life as crohns thrives on that. Glad you found us!

Just take it one day at a time. Focus on how you are feeling and what you are doing right now so you can avoid stressing about the future. Colonoscopy is really not that bad at all. What helps me feel great is avoiding dairy, sugar, white carbs, and processed foods. I eat lots of fruit, veggies, and fish and drink lots of water. Diet plays a major role in staying healthy.
