I got the phone call today from the surgeon. The big day is Jan 4th.I thought I would be happy to get the date, but I have to admit I am scared to death!1 week from tomorrrow I will have my ieleostomy (sp) bag!!On the bright side, I really figured I would have to go through the prep of cleaning myself out again. But they said it was just NPO after midnight! Please keep me in your prayers.I plan on taking my laptop to the hospital (against neshamas advise)I have a ton of movies on it and thought it might help pass the time.

ILEOSTOMY, ILEOSTOMY,ILEOSTOMY-A spelling test next week, young lady!Laughing

I am so happy you do not go through the clean-out prep. I think it is worse than waterboarding!

If you are up to it, post surgery, and only if you are up to it, please let us know how you are doing.

My prayers and good wishes are with you for a successful surgery and a new beginning!

Suggestion, I would have a clear liquid diet or eat light the day before the surgery. I do not think it would hurt!Wink

I went through this just a little less than 3 weeks ago.

It's great that u don't have to wait too long between now and then. The waiting is really hard but does give u time to prepare yourself a bit mentally. I'm excited to hear about your experience whenever u feel up to it. I guess my only advice is to keep an open mind about your new "gear". I was devastated but it quickly faded as I started to feel so much better Smile I hope for the best for u and will keep u in my prayers. Take care!

ILEOSTOMY????Did I pass Neshama???Thanks so much everyone!it is 4am here right now. Can't sleep, too much on my mind. Thanks for the advise everyone. If there is anything else you all can think of, please don't hold back!My mom and I are going shopping this weekend to get some Pajamas and some other things for the hospital. How long were you all in the hospital. The Doctor told me 3-4 days if there is no complications.I have never been away from my kids that long Sad But I need to quit thinking about the negative and focus on the positive!

You passedSmile

One more thing--after you get out of the hospital--rest. I was told when I got my ileostomy that I could not lift anything above 10-15 pounds for a few weeks because of the surgery. I know you have a family, but if you can have other do the "grunt" work, it would good and slowly ease back into your normal routines.

If you need any other advice on living with an ILEOSTOMYLaughing , you can PM anytime!

I am planning on spending a couple of weeks with my Mommy Smile She is the best nurse ever!!!You will probably get tired of all my pm's because I am sure I will have a lot of questions...LOL!That is what is so great about this site.Sometimes it takes a doctor all day to call you back when you have a question.Don't get me wrong, I would never substitute a doctors advise, but sometimes "not so serious" questions can be answered on here in matter on minutes Smile
