i've never had that but i can say that i have had to have a picc line several times over the years.and everytime i go to the er they always say why dnt u tlk to ur dr about a port,cause you have no veins.

Hi Jenn33, I posted this for Kristin. She is always going in and being poked repeatedly. They gave her a piccline, but it got infected and they had to take it out. I really think the port would be a good thing for her.

I currently have a mediport in me. I'll probably have to have it either until I die or until they come out with a different medicine other than Remicade to treat severe Crohn's. It's not so bad. I have a scar from it, but it's not too noticable. The plus side of the port is that they don't have to start an IV on my hand anymore! They can just access my port! I have horrible veins. There has to be two nurses in the room (that hospital's protocol) and always the nurse who doesn't put the 1 1/2 inch needle in flinches for me. After being poked & prodded so much, I'm immune to it.
