Yes - the device is called a LVAD (left ventricular assist device) . It is a mechanical device to increase the output of the heart. However, before going to a device such as that, you really need to consider whether it is needed. Have you and your hubby done absolutely everything possible to get sodium out of his diet? How many times have you and he gone thru all of your foods in the house and thrown out the higher sodium containing foods. Do you and he still consume breads??? Do you know how much sodium is in one bagel? 450 mg of sodium. Do you and he still eat out? A single small item in a restaurant can contain as much as 3,000 mg of sodium. Yeah - it is crazy. Has your hubby been switched to a very high veggy and fruits diet? Food has to be considered seriously before going to an assist device.
