Since May of 03 when I had my first big heart attack I have had about 15 stents and a pace make putin to keep me going. Sure I have had problems with the medical stuff but the mental is getting out of control. My memory has really gotten bad and I get fustrated very easily. I was just wondering how normal this is. I am only 47 and I am going back in for another heart cath on monday> I have a 54% total blockage all they told me.

Hi,

I am new to this forum and just saw your post about the memory problems. I guess a little late is better than never

I am 50 and had a heart attack a few years ago and now have 9 stents and I understand your frustration/angrivation at times too.

It isnt a simple "what did I come into this room for" either. Its words you have know most of your life and they dont come to your brain when you need them! You go somewhere and forgot to do/get the things you went there for and go all the way back home and maybe did one thing but forgot the most important one

My husband has seriously worried about me and I myself have been concerned too. It may take me a second, minute, hour, day, week, months.... to remember a word or what I did with something. I threw away a perfectly good watch and didnt remember until a couple of days after the garbage truck left.

I wonder if it has anything to do with the lack of blood to the brain before and or after the cath lab. Possibly the anesthsia?

If I were maybe 80 yrs old I would have a better excuse. There are people 80 that have a better memory than me

Makes me wonder if there have been any studies about this. Could it be the meds? My Cardio Doc refuses to take me off asprin, Lipitor or Plavix now.

Any theories out there?
