my bf gets so tired of that. Constantly coughing up mucus. When he uses the breathing treatments, it just gets worse.

I believe that everyone with COPD has this problem, but you should tell your dr how often. It is something that the dr. needs to know.

Breathing treatments, puffers, help me get it up too. I am in a lot of denial, I'm still smoking, my Dad recently passed away and he was sick for 4 mos and things have been very stressful. Dad also had COPD but did not need oxygen but used puffers, he smoked for 40 yrs. and had been off smoking for 25 yrs. I must start planning to stop smoking (we just buried dad's ashes today) I have been told by a sleep disorder clinic doctor that i had COPD (3yrs ago). Five yrs ago at age 40 was rushed to emergency cause I could not breathe they gave me iv with ventilin and gave me oxygen, was scary experience. I use venolin when needed (not too often) and use a cortozone puffer Symbocort 200 1 puff 2x/day. Sick

I hate to tell you that if you still smoke, it will only get worse. My bf has COPD and still smokes. He has tried to quit many times and we are looking into auricular therapy (where they shock your ear) and hypnotism.

I have to make an apt. with my doctor for a full physical, blood work and all...I want to know status of my COPD, do the breathing thing (tube) etc. Hopefully, that will modivate me to stop smoking. My Dad just died 2 wks ago and things have been rough with his health for 4 months. Now, I'm working on getting my life back in order.

Quitting smoking is very hard. I've been trying off and on for years. Chantix works pretty good, but it makes you very nauseous. I've heard good things about Wellbutrin also, but I can't take it because of side effects.

I'm so sorry for your loss. CarrieUFC would be a great person to talk to if you need someone.
