MDJunction to me

2steveb" In life we all have trials and tribulations to endure weather it be physical, mental or social. For me personally when i encountered MDJunction i was astounded. Since i joined MDJunction to me it has been a god send and a life saver. I have met and been able to converse freely with so many people in the same situation as myself, (that alone is a big help, to know your not alone) to be able to discuss and get good advice from a braud section of people. One of lifes hardest things is to discuss personal issues with friends/family and yet the mdj family is non judgmental and you will be made totally welcome to talk through any issue thats on your mind. There are forums for every known issue to mankind, to me MDJ.com has become my family extension, id be lost without these good people and the extremely good guide lines that group leaders help us all with to keep threads topical and friendly." Hi to all,

I went to my pulmonologist and my last test with spirometry was FEV1% 83. This test was done almost a year ago. I asked her if she could test me again and she said we only do that once a year. Do you all also get tested with spirometry once a year? She said it doesn't change much during the year. I really wonder about this one. Thanks in advance. love to all, lori

There is no set schedule to have a PFT. When to have them is normally left up to the Dr. and your condition. I went for about 10 years between my first and second one. What symptoms made necessary to have a PFT in the first place. With a fev1 of 83% you dont have the normal COPD so just being curious..

I first went to this Pulmonary Dr. for sleep apnea. On one of my visits at another time I felt my breathing had changed a bit. They did the spirometry test on me and it was 102, then the next one was 96, then the next 6 months later was 83. Yes, the Dr. said I did have COPD. Then I wanted a 2nd opinion and got another Dr. who did a chest x-ray this October. She says I have a little of emphysema.OK,lol I am a rookie at this. Isn't the spirometry test the same as the FEV1? Thank you Laughing

My first test was last year and it was 53%...my GP says oh your only operating on one lung...I replied well I think of the glass as being half FULL not half empty Smile

This year it has gone down to 42%...and I have no idea why....But now they are starting to panic and im getting all kinds of help lol..

I thought that FEV1 is spirometer although the last one i had done was when i was shut in that horrible box thing and they tested me...Its more accurate..

One of the good ppl here will know the name of it..
